For Sale at Auction: 1979 Ford Bronco in Scottsdale, Arizona

Vehicle Description

This custom 1979 Ford Bronco Ranger XLT Chromatic Free Wheeling Edition is owned by Julian Carr, a professional skier who has been featured in eight Warren Miller films, has two world records and an X-Games Gold Medal, was the recipient of a George Mallory Lifetime Achievement Award and is a Ford Bronco Ambassador. It was built by Vivid Retro Customs, based in Lakewood, CO, and underwent a two-year full frame-off restoration. Power comes from a Gen 2 5.0-liter Coyote V8 engine mated to a 6R80 6-speed automatic transmission with a manual-shift rocker switch. The powertrain includes a PBH Performance accessory drive system, PBH Performance ECM and harness, Champion aluminum radiator with dual electric fans and a transmission cooler with an electric fan. A Red-Head steering gearbox and dual exhaust system round out the mechanical upgrades. Power is sent to the rear or all four wheels via a dual-range transfer case and custom-length driveshafts. The body was disassembled, media-blasted and refinished in factory Candy Apple Red with new Chromatic Free Wheeling decals. The frame was stripped and refinished in epoxy semi-gloss black. Bed-liner material was applied to the underside of the body and interior floor pan. A black removable hardtop completes the exterior, which is accented by matte black bumpers, Hella fog lamps, a drop-down tailgate, factory "Cactus Smasher" push bar and factory roll bar. This Bronco rides on a BDS 4-inch suspension lift with dual front shocks, front and rear sway bars, and manually locking Warn front hubs. It rolls on 15-inch ProComp wheels wrapped in 33x12.50-inch BFGoodrich All-Terrain tires. Braking is handled by hydro-boost-assisted front and rear disc brakes with a Wilwood master brake cylinder and Hydratech hydro-boost system. Inside, the cabin features front bucket seats trimmed in red leather with patterned cloth inserts and a rear bench finished in matching red vinyl and cloth. Additional appointments include a Vintage Air climate-control system, Dakota Digital replacement gauges, red replacement carpeting, aftermarket pedal covers and a tilt steering column with factory steering wheel. The sound system features a RetroSound stereo head unit paired with AudioFrog speakers, a JL Audio subwoofer and a Kenwood amplifier. A Marti Report is included with the sale. ** PREVIEW
