"With 40 years of heritage and refinement behind it, the 1993
Corvette was the classic American two seater. Corvette's 5.7 Liter
LT1 V8: this 300 HP V8 combines smooth in city performance and
ferocious capability at high RPM, with either the 4-speed automatic
or the 6-speed manual, this is driving the way it is meant to be.
Technology in the 1993 Corvette also includes sophisticated fully
independent suspension with precision crafted aluminum componentry,
an all disc four wheel antilock brake system, and a traction
control system that helps Corvette utilize all available traction
by regulating wheel spin." Corvettemuseum.org
For consignment, a 1993 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible with a title
verified 43,332 actual miles. This red on red car features a
desirable accessory hard top but also has a soft top for on the fly
top dropping action.
Exterior
Torch Red, colloquially known as Arrest Me Red in some circles,
baths this American sports car with the two stage quality it
deserves. And while you may be a familiar with the facelifted C4
Corvette, let's talk about some unique features here including the
hard top, which makes the car coupe-like in the same vein as the C5
Z06 would favor, retaining a decklid by eliminating the long,
sloping rear window. Also on this car are 17-inch GS style wheels
which would adorn the special edition '96 C4's and look great with
the red! (The original saw blades come with the car.) They're
wearing staggered size tires with an early 2021 date code. Finally,
there's a spoiler on back which would be subtle if not for its
contrasting black color, and it gives the car a degree of
sportiness lacking in mere mortal C4's. An area of crazing is the
only imperfection we find on the outside.
Interior
Spectacular red leather for the buckets which have extensive
bolstering to keep you in the seat when negotiating a tight curve.
The driver's seat has a few cracks and wear off of the red at the
entry side and each seat has a 40th anniversary badge embroidered
in. The center console houses storage, seat controls, and the
automatic shifter, all in great shape with some typical scratches
on the faceplate. Analog gauges arch towards a center digital
readout which like all instrument lights, illuminate in orange. The
center stack favors the driver and includes a push button AC panel
and AM/FM/Cassette radio. Bright red carpet covers the floors and
door panels, which have a black mid panels. A soft black headliner
covers the underside of the hardtop cleanly.
Drivetrain
Presenting cleanly is the venerable 5.7 liter LT1 powerplant, fuel
injected and rated at 300 horsepower. It's mated to GM's 700R4
4-speed automatic transmission that routes power to the
Positraction rear axle with 2.59 gears.
Undercarriage
Some minor oxidation and some residual oil are the only things that
detract from a very clean underside. Here lives the dual exhaust
system that flows through the stock style mufflers, then exits via
rectangular polished tips. Four wheel power disc brakes are on
board and suspension includes single fiberglass composite mono leaf
spring with unequal length aluminum control arms and stabilizer bar
in front and fully independent 5 link system with fiberglass single
leaf spring, aluminum upper/lower trailing links and a strut tierod
assembly on back.
Drive-Ability
We surround ourselves with red surfaces and bring the LT1 to life,
once again finding we're impressed with the pleasant exhaust note,
the rip roaring acceleration, and the train on rails type handling.
Everything works on this car and as they say, this is about as much
fun as you can have and still have your clothes on! While Classic
Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time
of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be
working at the time of your purchase.
Whether this is your first Corvette, or your eighth, you're in for
a good time. With just a few cosmetic touches to the exterior, the
car instantly stands out from a sea of Corvettes and we think the
choices here improve the overall look of a car that looks great
from the factory. They're also reversible if not your cup of tea,
but in either case, it's a lot of bang for the buck. "Move over
baby, give me keys, I'm gonna try to tame your little red love
machine!"
