In the world of Corvettes, firsts will always command significant
attention and adulation from enthusiasts and collectors. This
spectacular 2024 Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray Coupe 3LZ is not only the
first hybrid in the long and storied lineage of Chevy's flagship
model, but also the first all-wheel-drive variant the model has
ever seen. With only 1,555 actual miles, this entire C8 is
ceramic-coated and shows off its original Arctic White paint and
complementary full-length blue racing stripes. With its removable
targa top on or off, this techno-marvel is guaranteed to turn heads
anywhere it goes.
Inside, we find an incredible Tension Blue leather cockpit-style
interior. Beginning with just the seats, the top-tier 3LZ GT2
heated and ventilated buckets with Napa leather, perforated
inserts, lumbar, and bolster adjustments. In addition to that, this
E-Ray gets keyless open/start, dual-zone climate control, memory
packages for both driver and passenger, heads-up display, rear
camera mirror, and HD front and rear cameras. A 12-inch color
Driver Infotainment Center includes a Bose 14-speaker stereo, Apple
CarPlay/Android Auto, and wireless charging. A full suite of safety
features includes Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, Blind-Side Zone Alert,
Forward Collision Alert, Pedestrian/Bicyclist Braking, Teen Driver
(we would never anyway), and Automatic Emergency Braking.
As you might imagine, power for this hybrid comes from two separate
sources. Out back, we find a stellar naturally aspirated 6.2-liter
overhead valve V-8 engine. Thanks to a cast aluminum block and
heads, direct-injection, and an 11.5:1 compression ratio, this big
V-8 pumps out an impressive 495 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of
torque. As if that prodigious power is not enough, up front, the
E-Ray features a separate permanent-magnet AC motor on the front
axle, powered by a 1.9 kWh lithium-ion battery located between the
seats, that contributes an additional 160 horsepower and 125
pound-feet of torque. Don't worry, we did the math for you. Total
power comes to an awe-inspiring 655 horsepower and 595 pound-feet
of torque. That power for the V-8 is routed through a trick 8-speed
dual-clutch automatic transaxle before being funneled to the rear
wheels.
