For Sale: 1951 Crosley Station Wagon in Scottsdale, Arizona

Vehicle Description

1951 Crosley Station Wagon with a Fairships brand cabin cruiser boat & trailer.

Wow! Talk about a rare combination and a rare opportunity this is it. I’ve never seen anything quite like this and I’ve been in the old car hobby for over sixty years. Of course like you I have seen many mid-size and full size cars at shows with a travel trailer or a boat attached but never something as small as a Crosley pulling a cabin cruiser.

I’m the manager of a Scottsdale classic car collection and I’ve been asked to represent the owner in the sale of these vehicles.

The Crosley has been part of the collection since 2005. The dealer who sold it to us said that the miles on the car were actual @ 27,121 box A on the title. We don’t have any way of knowing if that is correct or not.

To our knowledge the car has never been fully restored with the exception of a high quality repaint and new wood panel decals. It does appear that the car has been well maintained and appreciated during its life on the road. We were told when we purchased it that the interior is original but, we can’t verify that. There’s a chance that the door panels, the headliner and the rear seat upholstery are original to the car but, I’m pretty confident that the front seats have been re-upholstered.

The 1954 Fair ships cabin cruiser was purchased in 2006 and it was an amazingly good condition for a boat of this age. The boat was repainted to be a close match to the car. To our knowledge the boat has never been restored and we don’t know if it runs or not. We’ve never tried to put it in the water so we don’t know if it will float or not? However, we haven’t noticed any damage to the hull to indicate that there was a problem.

The super rare Crosley Aero-jet motor in the boat is an amazing find. I can hardly find anything to read about the motor much less than finding one to purchase. The trailer we think (but cannot verify) is the original wood trailer that came with the boat and was painted to match the car.

Believe me, I’ve tried for years to collect information on this rare boat but it’s extremely difficult to find. All we know is that it looks to have been kept in a very good condition and it’s incredibly cute. Remember this is small; it’s definitely not a big boat.

The car is set up to pull the boat and I have driven it that way for a couple of miles. This combination has been a static display in a temperature controlled show room since as I recall 2007 or so. As nice some of the other vehicles in the show room are I think it’s fair to say that the boat always seems to garner the most attention. When you show it to people its fun to play the theme of Gilligan’s Island on your phone.

This would be a fantastic display for a museum, for a boat dealership or for a person who wants to bring something to a show that perhaps no one else on the Planet has ever seen before?

Naturally, these will be sold as a pair and not separated.
