The Valiant was introduced in 1960 by Plymouth as their entry into
the compact car market that began emerging in the late 1950's. They
were known for its durability and reliability which propelled it to
one of Chrysler's best selling vehicles during the 1960s-1970s. In
fact, "Road & Track" magazine considered it to be "one of the best
all-around domestic cars" available. We haven't listed a ton of
these over the years but even out of that amount not a single one
comes close to the beautiful 1962 you see here. At first glance
people assume it is a custom but those people would be wrong. Now
it is a custom in the sense of being a restomod but the all steel
panel truck body is the real deal. Many will argue that it is a
modified station wagon but that is not the case. A limited number
of 62 of these were produced and special ordered for the Michigan
Consolidated Gas Company. Due to their niche market, production was
stopped so only a few made it out to the world. This has been
verified by multiple Mopar enthusiasts who agree this is the only
example of one of these panels that still exists. As if having this
rare machine wasn't enough this car has been transformed in to a
stunning show stopper restomod that turns heads wherever it goes.
Even if there was another panel out there somewhere it is no where
near this level making this car truly 1 of a kind. It is a multiple
award winner where the trophy it takes home is more often than not,
Best of Show. That includes Mopar specific events like Mopar Heaven
and the Mopar mini nationals. The body is laser straight with zero
rust, damage or issues whatsoever. It is painted in a beautiful PPG
Vibrant Candy Apple Red that is so slick it almost looks like it
hasn't dried. That was then packed with Gold pearl that glistens in
the sunlight. The car almost changes colors depending on the
lighting and your viewing angle. Our pictures don't do it justice
and it is so gorgeous it secured the car the spot as the PPG Dream
Car at Goodguys. The car really does knock you off your feet in its
presence and nobody can pass by without taking a closer look. All
of the chrome work is incredible and has a mirror like finish. The
glass is all perfect, tinted and both side/rear windows are power
operated. It has an excellent aggressive stance with a slight rake
and is riding on beautiful Coy wheels (17in front, 18in rear).
If the exterior doesn't have you drooling already then look under
the hood. The heart of this incredible machine is a 5.7L Hemi V8
fuel injected motor that runs extremely well and has no problem
turning the BF Goodrich G-Force tires. This is literally a car that
has no weaknesses. Best paint, best engine, best interior, it is
worthy of them all. Various components on the motor have been
painted to match the body with the exact same care and attention to
detail. The inner fenders and firewall are all slick and
specialized fasteners can be found throughout. This build is over
the top, everywhere you look. The car roars to life with the touch
of a button and sounds perfect through the custom X-pipe exhaust
into chrome tipped 45 series Flowmaster mufflers. Underneath the
car is gorgeous with a custom powder coated RMS chassis. The motor
is paired with a 5 speed automatic transmission to transfer power
back to the narrowed 8.25 inch Sure Grip rear with 3.55:1 gearing.
The car runs nice and cool with a polished radiator, electric fan
with shroud, a polished overflow tank and custom hose ends. Under
all four corners are Wilwood slotted disc brakes and braided lines
were used throughout. Other nice mechanical features include the
custom polished gas tank, serpentine belt system, QA1 coilovers,
tubular A arms, AlterKation K member and more. The list goes on and
on. Everywhere you look on this beautiful machine is a noteworthy
feature deserving of attention.
The interior of the car is absolutely gorgeous and done in high
quality tan leather. The dash is out of a 1973 Duster and features
custom Dakota Digital gauges and custom stainless AC vents. To
match the gauge layout a custom trim piece was created for the
glove box door. The seats are out of a 1962 Valiant Signet and the
upholstery is like new throughout. The custom center console houses
the Lokar Gennie short shifter, stainless cupholders, and power
window controls. The headliner, the door panels, everything is
custom. Open the rear tailgate and you will have full access to the
beautifully designed upholstery. The original window control is in
place on the tailgate but is purely for looks as it no longer
cranks. Custom designed trim pieces can be found throughout and
even the interior lighting is custom. In front of the driver sits a
painted to match Flaming River waterfall column topped off with a
leather wrapped steering wheel. The custom stereo is all bluetooth
and it sounds great. All of the electrical work is very cleanly
done and hidden out of sight.
This car is truly 1 of a kind! You aren't going to see another one
of these so if you are ready to have a rare piece of automatic
history, look no further.
This work of art could be yours for $188,800.00!
