This 1966 Corvette Convertible was delivered new at Robert DeNoyer
Chevrolet of Holland, MI on May 12, 1966. The car was ordered with
the L79 327 / 350 motor, 4 speed Muncie manual transmission and a
3:70:1 Positraction Rear end. The car was delivered dressed in
Rally Red exterior paint over Black Vinyl interior with White
convertible top and matching Rally Red hard top. Other highlights
included chrome spinner hubcaps, classic teak 3 spoke steering
wheel, 7000 RPM tach, 160 MPH speedometer, clock, bucket seats
etc.
Since, the car has remained in the W. Michigan area and has had
just 3 owners to the present day. It shows 98122 miles on the
odometer and those miles are said to be and believed to be the
original mileage. Today, this 1966 Corvette remains in wonderful,
quite original condition. The body has never been off the frame,
and according to the owner and our visual inspection, the car
retains its original numbers matching motor, transmission, rear end
and most of its componentry. The car sports an older repaint that
still shows well and appears that the interior has been addressed
with correct NOS carpeting and NOS seat upholstery at one time and
the headliner has been recently replaced on the hard top. The
steering wheel, interior panels, dash and gauges remain original to
the car. The frame and underbody remain original and exhibit an
excellent core structure.
Mechanically, the car is hands down one of the best driving
Corvettes we have had. The L79 high horsepower small block fires
with ease and settles into idle effortlessly. It pulls strong in
every gear, it tracks straight and has a tight and responsive
suspension. Recent services include all new shocks, new front wheel
bearings and brake service.
Finding a quality Corvette that has remained intact as a usable
driver for its entirety of its existence is not easy. The car here
is a high quality, highly original driver quality example that has
never been in non-working order throughout its ownership history.
Documentation includes its original Protect-O-Plate with original
dealer and owner information, the original, now not valid, 1983
title from the second owner and receipts of some recent services.
The proper casting numbers and stampings are in place, legible and
apeat legit. What a great opportunity to acquire a no-questions
example of one of the most desirable American sports cars on the
planet. The 1966 Corvette will always be a blue chip automotive
investment. Straight forward examples such as the 1966 Corvette
here are few and far between.
