1965 Full Custom one-off P-51 Mustang Restomod
A perfect opportunity for someone who wants a one of a kind creation but doesn’t want to spend insane money and years to build it.
This car is part of a private Scottsdale, AZ collection that is being sold. As the collection manager, I've been asked to represent the cars in the collection. Before we get into the nitty-gritty details on the car we want to make something perfectly clear. We are not in any way representing this car as something that was made by or modified by Shelby American. We did not add the Shelby badges nor did we add the signature on the dash. Every single thing that you see on the car that says Shelby was there when we purchased it and we've left all of it in place, just as it was when we bought it and just as it remains today.
The reason the car is advertised as a '65 is because that's what the car was before it was customized. The car is definitely not for a purest and we are not in any way calling the car an actual Shelby in our advertising. In the early 1970's I owned original Shelby Cobra's (long before the replicas came along) and later Shelby Mustang so I know what those cars are and what this is. IT IS NOT A SHELBY! This custom Mustang looks today exactly like the way it looked when we purchased it. We have made zero changes to it's appearance.
The car has a '65 Mustang VIN # and its called a '65 Mustang on the Arizona title. The car started out life as a plain Jane '65 Mustang Coupe that was completely transformed into the unique custom creation that you see today.
We don’t know who built it or for what purpose but, it’s obvious that countless hours and probably countless thousands of dollars were required to build it. The list of features is extreme. Here’s good sample to give you an idea of the work and parts necessary to build this.
Body – The look of this car is a tribute to the famous WWII fighter plane called the P-51 Mustang. The wrap on the body has been applied to a very high professional standard with an emphasis on accuracy in comparison to the original plane. The original Mustang coupe top was removed and replaced with a professionally made fairing similar to the plane and emphasizes the cockpit look of the interior. Both the windshield glass and the A pillars were cut down to create the streamlined speedster look.
Engine and Transmission – There’s a fabulous engine in this car. It’s a Coyote with twin independent variable cam timing referred to as (Ti-VCT). We were told it is a 2013 engine 5.0L, 3.2 valve motor making in excess of 400+horse power. On this horsepower number we were told that there were modifications to bring it to a higher number but we have never attempted to verify that. The transmission is a Tremec 5-speed.
Interior – We believe that the seats in the car came from a late model Mustang. Some people think they’re leather but, we think they’re vinyl. There’s a faux fighter instrument panel on the non-opening console and a Race-Pac digital instrument cluster in the dash. The interior also features a custom steering wheel in the same color to match the seats & door panels.

Literally one of the most attention getting cars I ever been involved with and I’ve been doing this for over sixty years. Absolutely no way to duplicate this car today for anywhere near this price.
