Some time ago, this 1972 Chevrolet Chevelle SS tribute was treated
to a thorough, frame-off restoration that left it looking great and
sporting the distinctive aesthetic features of its top-tier Chevy
inspiration. The professionals involved were not only skilled but
also detail-oriented, as this muscle car specimen wears all the
right Super Sport appearance upgrades that combine to make for a
convincingly authentic appearance, including a distinctive blackout
grille, proper badging, a cowl hood, and even period-correct
wheels. Flash forward to the present, and its ultra-sharp Torch Red
paint continues to impress, with a great shine, and the chrome
bumpers and trim still look mighty fine.
Glance through the driver's side window and you'll see a
quintessential vintage muscle car interior, with black upholstery
that blends vinyl and cloth and shows only light wear. Lower
yourself onto the split bench front seat, and you'll likely be
impressed by just how comfortable it is. With plenty of legroom in
back, your passengers will ride in comfort as well. The aftermarket
steering wheel blends nicely with its surroundings and features its
signature Chevy bowtie, and you'll find a pair of added gauges that
partner with their factory counterparts to keep tabs on motoring
functions. The level of functionality inside the cockpit is strong.
All of those gauges work properly, the added Sony AM/FM/Cassette
stereo fires up to provide a period-appropriate audio experience,
and the windows on both sides roll up and down smoothly.
There's a lot to like below that cowl hood. A 400-cubic-inch V8
stands by in the engine compartment, equipped with an Edelbrock
4-barrel carburetor perched on an intake manifold by the same
manufacturer to enhance its already substantial capabilities. It
exhales into long tube headers that lead to a pair of Turbo
mufflers that add a smooth, deep exhaust note with a tap on the
accelerator and partners with a rock-solid automatic TH350 3-speed
transmission that shifts with precision. And that restoration we
previously mentioned included an upgrade to boxed lower trailing
arms and a rear sway bar, so this vintage Chevy has far more
agility around turns than it did in its original form.
