described as the car Porsche almost didn't want you to have. The
Cayman S remains one of the most rewarding sports cars of its era,
a pure expression of Porsche's engineering when steering was still
hydraulic and the flat-six still naturally aspirated.By locking in
a fixed rear hatch carried from Porsche's 'Hardtop Boxster'
experiment, Porsche unlocked an entirely new aerodynamic canvas,
borrowing airflow lessons from the halo Carrera GT. At the
N?rburgring, detuned prototypes were lapping on the heels of the
997 Carrera. Engineers even joked that giving it Carrera power
would make the 911 obsolete. The final result was a sleek,
mid-engine coupe with nearly perfect balance, serious braking
power, and luggage space front and rear. The 3.4L flat-six (M97.21)
engine produces 295 horsepower and 251 lb-ft of torque, enough to
hustle the Cayman S from 0-60 mph in just 4.9 seconds. Revving
freely past 7,000 rpm, the engine delivers a linear surge that begs
drivers to keep it in the sweet spot, right above 4,000 rpm. On a
back road, the Cayman S feels as if it were designed for one
purpose: 'Pure Driving Enjoyment.'The Cayman S became a darling
among enthusiasts because of how natural it feels to be behind the
wheel:Balance: Near 45/55 weight distribution, without a pendulum
effect like the 911.Steering: Hydraulic assistance gives
crystal-clear feedback of road texture and camber.Braking: Borrowed
Carrera brakes provide serious bite and fade resistance.Handling:
Neutral and forgiving at the limit, rotating predictably without
snap oversteer.Versatility: Two trunks (front and rear) make it
more practical than a 911 while keeping the sports car focus
intact. This vehicle carries not just the DNA of Porsche's 'Baby
GT,' but is has also been the embodiment of 'Driven by Dreams'
throughout its life. Purchased out of Hilton Head, SC, it was
regularly serviced with its first two owners, one of whom was a BMW
IMSA GT instructor who made sure the vehicle was set up properly.
The third owner competed in New York and Florida before bringing
the car home to Aiken following the Equestrian season. The paint and
interior reflect the care and garage-kept conditions. It has been
driven minimally, and was often reserved for special occasions as a
date-night car. Always maintained, always cared for, and always
kept indoors, this Cayman S represents enthusiast ownership at its
best. Tasteful modifications enhance performance and preserve
condition without straying from Porsche's driver-focused
ethos.Features and UpgradesNumeric Racing short-throw shifter with

it's a driver's car ? one that Porsche nearly made too good. For
