When the Escalade was introduced in 1999 to compete directly with
the luxury Lincoln Navigator, they were an overnight status symbol
despite the features it shared with the Yukon. Cadillac was
invigorated by the model which was loaded with standard features
and an MSRP price of only $3,000 more than the Yukon. By the second
generation in 2002, Cadillac was already making big changes that
disjoined it from the Yukon and created an air exclusivity, on
average selling just 35,000 units per year in the U.S. for 2005,
2006, and 2007.
For consignment, a 2015 Cadillac Escalade ESV Platinum edition with
a title verified 47,770 actual miles. If bells and whistles and big
luxury are what you're looking for, you just found the ultimate
American luxury SUV flagship model.
Exterior
It's difficult to ignore the sheer size of this rig coming at you
with one of the largest grilles in the business, a virtual freight
train front with enough crystal LED lights to fill a Waterford
gallery. For this generation, the headlights sweep back as if moved
by the wind and integrate into the front fender while the
distinctive tail lights present as narrow columns that cover the
entire rear corner. From the side, White Diamond Pearl paint
dominates the panels, contrasted by polished trim and tinted window
while a large rear overhang adds overall girth to this giant.
22-inch wheels carry 45 series tires, and a roof rail is provided
in case you need even more space on the roof. Paint, body and trim
are excellent on the Caddy, and we could find no exterior
imperfections.
Interior
As we open the door, the automatic step presents itself and we're
greeted with a Tuscan Brown interior, a nice diversion from the
typical black option. The doors are an elaborate and busy
collection of shapes, coves, and switches, accented with a burlwood
insert and brush finished hardware and all four are in excellent
condition. Tall leather bucket seats are replete with more
electronic controls and massage control in piano black faceplates
and flank a sizable console while textured plastic serves as the
shell. Row two is a pair of captain's chairs and row three is a
straight bench, all with more than ample space around them and of
course, cupholders at the ready. Rear screens on the front
headrests are poised for entertainment and the steering wheel and
dashboard are likely accompanied by a thick user's manual while
handsomely dressed in brown, piano black, and burlwood trim. The
Platinum edition means more luxury and more technology and even the
steering column is controlled by a switch. An overhead camera is
expressed in the central screen along with the functions of the
AM/FM radio with Bluetooth and XM capabilities. The lap of luxury
includes more switchgear in the overhead console where a sunroof
caters to the driver's desire for outside light. Tan carpet floods
the floor, protected by Weathertech type mats throughout but clean
and open on the way back.
Drivetrain
Plastic shrouds cleanly cover the 6.2 liter L86 V8 putting out a
necessary 420 horsepower, fuel injected and mated to an 8L90E
8-speed automatic transmission. Power is routed to the rear semi
floating axle with 3.23 gears and can be split between the axles
for 4WD.
Undercarriage
Clean conditions prevail underneath and it's likely this truck has
not seen much snow or rain. Four wheel power disc brakes are on
board along with dual exhaust that still runs through original
equipment. Suspension is geared for the ultimate comfort and
includes rear leveling and magnetic ride control while the hardware
includes coil springs front and rear with a 5 link in back.
Drive-Ability
Sensors galore monitor blind spots, cross traffic, lane deviation,
and pre-collision. The driver's seat will vibrate if you nod off
and if someone tries to run off with your truck by towing it, the
car knows that too. Meanwhile, the ride is about as soft and
comfortable as can be, there's adequate power onboard, and
visibility is tree house-like from the high perch. Every feature we
employed worked as it should and we headed back to the mall to dock
this flagship under the lights. While Classic Auto Mall represents
that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we
cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of
your purchase.

versions. Here's a Platinum edition with more bells and whistles
than your iPhone and more comfort than a first class ticket on
