For Sale: 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle in Seekonk, Massachusetts

Vehicle Description

The 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS LS6 454/450hp 4-speed is one of the most legendary American muscle cars ever built — the ultimate expression of Chevrolet’s high-performance engineering during the golden era of muscle. This authentic, factory-documented LS6 Chevelle represents the pinnacle of collectible 1970 Chevelles and has been fully restored to high show-quality standards throughout. It’s also been certified authentic by expert Jerry MacNeish of Camaro Hi-Performance, one of the most respected authorities in the classic car community.

Only 4,475 LS6 Chevelle SS models were produced in 1970, making this example exceptionally rare. Known as the “Holy Grail” of Chevelles, the LS6 package featured Chevrolet’s top-tier big block — the 454 cubic inch Turbo Jet V8 rated at 450 horsepower and 500 lb-ft of torque. This powerplant made the 1970 Chevelle SS LS6 one of the most feared street machines of its time.

According to the original Trim Tag, this Chevelle was built in Baltimore, Maryland during the fourth week of December 1969. The three original build sheets confirm its factory configuration: Fathom Blue (Code 28) exterior with white stripes and an Ivory/White interior (Code 791). Factory options included bucket seats (A51), center console (D55), sport stripes (D88), F41 performance suspension, G80 Positraction rear, 3.31 axle ratio, power front disc brakes (J50/J52), heavy-duty radiator (V01), and the ZL2 Cowl Induction Hood — an iconic feature of the LS6.

This example was originally delivered to Etscovitz Chevrolet in Fort Kent, Maine, and sold new on January 22, 1970, to Donald Marquis of St. Augusta, Maine. The Chevelle later followed him to Ft. Benning, Georgia while he was in the service, documented by the original Georgia title from 1977. It remained in the Marquis family until 1988 before changing hands again in 2012, when a professional rotisserie, nut-and-bolt restoration was commissioned. Completed in 2021, the restoration preserved originality while achieving a concours-level finish inside and out.

MS CLASSIC CARS acquired the vehicle in late 2024 and invested in a full service and detailing program, including complete rebuilds of the engine, transmission, and rear end. This work elevated the LS6 to peak performance, making it one of the best-running and best-driving 1970 Chevelle SS LS6 models ever offered by MS CLASSIC CARS.

The exterior is absolutely stunning, finished in its correct Fathom Blue with white rally stripes. The body is exceptionally straight and retains all its original sheet metal. The cowl induction system is fully functional, and the paintwork displays a deep, mirror-gloss finish after a recent paint correction performed by MS CLASSIC CARS. All exterior components — glass, stainless trim, moldings, chrome bumpers, emblems, and lighting — were either restored or replaced with correct parts. The car rides on 14-inch Super Sport wheels wrapped in Goodyear Polyglas F70-14 tires, giving it the period-correct stance enthusiasts love.

The interior complements the exterior beautifully with its Ivory and White bucket seat setup, fully restored to factory-correct specifications. Highlights include a new dash pad, console bezel, steering wheel, door panels, and gauges. The cabin is upgraded with a modern AM/FM Bluetooth radio and custom SS 454 floor mats, blending authenticity with functionality. The trunk compartment is equally detailed, featuring correct splatter paint, trunk mat, matching spare, and new jack tools.

Under the hood lies the heart of this muscle icon — its original matching-numbers LS6 454/450hp V8, freshly rebuilt by NATS Engines in Seekonk, MA, in 2025. The engine retains its original components, including #291 cylinder heads, Holley #4557 carburetor, Delco distributor, and #8418 starter motor. Built to LS6 specs with upgraded internals for reliability, the motor produced 512 horsepower and 541 lb-ft of torque on the dyno, verified by included test sheets and video. Power is sent through a rebuilt M22 Heavy Duty 4-speed “Rock Crusher” transmission to the original 12-bolt CRV-coded rear end with 3.31 gears — both freshly restored and performing flawlessly.

The undercarriage is show-ready, detailed in satin black and fitted with all-correct components. The suspension, steering, fuel, and braking systems were completely rebuilt, including boxed rear control arms, F41 sway bars, and the correct #5470409 BB master cylinder. The result is a factory-accurate underside that looks as good as it drives.
