Survivor Classic Car Services Chicago is proud to present this
clean 1962 Pontiac Tempest LeMans. Under the hood is the uncommon
195 cubic inch "Trophy 4" 4-cylinder engine. This engine was
designed by essentially removing one cylinder bank from the Pontiac
389, making this 4-banger displace a healthy 3.2l. that compares
with most modern V6 engines! Due to the larger displacement for its
cylinder count, it is plenty torque and moved the Tempest
surprisingly well!
Power is sent to the rear wheels and easily get the Tempest up to
speed. This Tempest has had some restoration work in its past,
including new weatherstripping, fresh paint, and the engine was
gone through to make sure it is running in top shape. The engine
starts up easily and idles smooth. While putting around town you
would be hard pressed to believe that it is only a 4 cylinder. The
2-speed transmission shifts smoothly from gear to gear. The body is
solid and looks to be all or mostly all original metal. This
Tempest would make for a great Sunday cruiser. Popping the hood at
your local cruise night will get a lot of confused onlookers
wondering where the other cylinder head is!
