Up for sale is this remarkably clean and rust free Scout Traveler. Fully equipped with many desirable options, including factory installed Air Conditioning and Cruise Control.
Owned and driven in Montana since new, it shows no evidence of rust in any of the typical places. Fenders, rockers, and underbody structure including cab mounts are all intact and solid. Surface rust only on frame and suspension components.
Stored for the past several years, this Scout was recently refreshed and refurbished with many new components. Brakes and entire fuel system, including tank and sending unit have been replaced. Engine has been tuned up with new carburetor, spark plugs and wires, and the cooling system updated with new water pump and aluminum radiator. New wheels, tires, and fender flares round out the list of enhancements.
The body is in excellent shape overall, with all of the trim intact, including the front grille. A new windshield has been installed as well. The interior is also in good condition for its age, with only the dash pad showing any damage. The upholstery is clean and in excellent condition, with no stains, rips, or tears.
Being an older vehicle that was driven regularly, there are some minor cosmetic and mechanical details that could be addressed. There is one dent in the driver's side front fender, and the front driveline needs to be rebuilt with new u-joints.
The Scout runs and drives very well. The engine starts and runs smoothly and has good power. The transmission shifts firmly, with no slippage. The steering is tight and the brakes work well.
This Scout would make a great driver as-is, or an excellent candidate for a full restoration or restomod. Original, rust-free examples are becoming almost non-existent. Here is a great opportunity to pick one up.
