"The resto-mods are fresh and beautiful but also up to- date in
their performance and luxury equipment. They are each unique
statements of style and exclusivity. Their appeal is immediately
apparent, though they may only be driven a few miles to a show or
in a parade, then exquisitely detailed to remove all traces of
dust, dirt, or God forbid mud." Hagerty.com, Feb. 2024
For consignment, a 1965 Chevrolet Corvette coupe showing 84 miles,
but the true mileage is unknown. This one features a crate 350ci V8
and some suspension and other component upgrades making it a
looker, and a booker! Despite the upgrades, this car retains its
numbers matching Muncie M20 transmission.
Exterior
Striking in its appearance, it's clear this one veers from factory
stock most apparently by the Foose wheels on board, wild and unique
with 18-inch up front and 19-inch for rears, here wrapped in low
profile, staggered tires with an early 2022 date code. The black
stinger stripe on the hood provides contrast to the two stage
Charcoal Gray Metallic paint which is a great color to highlight
the coke bottle curves and sweeping lines of the C2. Triple gills
on the fender are accentuated by shiny side pipes and flow through
vents on the B-pillar add even more raciness. The boat tail rear is
not only a work of art, but has been the subject of photographic
art for decades and still astounds. There's a lot to love here
including an exterior we could not find fault with as no
imperfections were found.
Interior
Basic black door panels are clean and efficient accented with shiny
trim framing, both in very nice condition and opening up the cabin
where we find updated black leather bucket seats with ample side
bolstering and tuck and roll inserts. The steering wheel is also an
upgrade from original and leads to the stock shaped instrument
cluster now housing modern gauges with digital readouts augmenting
the dials on a perfect textured plastic faceplate. A smooth black
center stack holds the clock, functional knobs, and a vertical
AM/FM radio. Vintage Air is onboard with vents distributed though
the cabin, and a chrome knobbed shifter is perched in the clean
console, all over black loop carpet that covers the footwells and
rear cargo area nicely, and it's there where we find some extra
speakers. Finally, the black grain vinyl headliner is spotless.
Drivetrain
Also spotless is the impressive engine bay where we find a crate
350ci V8 with a Holley Street Avenger 4-barrel carburetor, a Be
Cool radiator, and polished headers. The satin black bay is
accented by the red MSD coil and wires and overall, is show ready.
Behind it, the numbers matching Muncie M20 4-speed manual
transmission which gleefully sends power to the rear axle with 3.36
gears and Positraction.
Undercarriage
Like many restomods, the underside of this one is also clean and
show worthy. The polished exhaust runs from the headers to the side
pipes and clean metals underneath are matched by the paint matched
cross members. RideTech suspension includes coil springs on the
independent front and rear and Wilwood supplies the disc brakes at
all four wheels. No rust, no fluids, and every nut and bolt are
clean on this fresh looking underside.
Drive-Ability
The bigger seats and smaller steering wheel of this restomod make
it that much better than stock, and the sound of the 350 roaring to
life is not too shabby either. We shift the Muncie into first and
roll this resto onto the test loop where it exhibits great power
underfoot, smooth tracking, and great handling. It's clean and well
sorted and not surprisingly, all functional items in and around the
car operate as intended. While Classic Auto Mall represents that
these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we
cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of
your purchase.
Easily one of the hottest genres in the market, Classic Auto Mall
is thrilled to represent this '65 restomod. You don't have to roll
the dice at an auction, you can see this one up close, and if rock
solid serious and ready to make an offer, take it for test drive in
our massive lot and confirm what we've said here, this is one
fantastic, collector grade restomodded '65!
