This 1964 Chevrolet Malibu Resto-Mod is a high-performance
masterpiece that blends classic American styling with modern
engineering and comfort. Finished in its factory Ember Red exterior
with a matching red interior, this Malibu stands out as a
beautifully restored and tastefully upgraded street machine. It has
undergone an extensive professional build, with well-documented
receipts totaling over $30,000 just for the motor, transmission,
and rear end alone. The result is a stunning, powerful, and
exceptionally well-sorted car that's both thrilling to drive and
comfortable for cruising.
Under the hood lies a monster 434 cubic-inch Dart Stage 5.5 block
producing an incredible 554 horsepower, with dyno documentation
included. The engine build was performed by Skip White Performance
at a cost of $16,915 and features AFR heads, an Edelbrock AVS2 800
CFM carburetor, and MSD ignition for reliable spark and crisp
throttle response. A serpentine belt system, custom-bent exhaust
headers, and a cold-blowing Retro Air A/C system ensure that this
high-horsepower setup remains refined and street-friendly. The
powerplant is mated to a Tremec TKX 5-speed manual transmission
modified by Silver Sport Transmissions, allowing the car to cruise
at 70 mph while turning only 2200 rpm - making it both powerful and
highway-capable. Out back, a Mosier 12-bolt rear end houses Monster
Engineering axles and 3.55 gears, delivering exceptional traction
and performance.
The suspension and braking systems have been upgraded throughout
for superior handling and control. Tubular A-arms, new Global West
rear control arms, front and rear sway bars, and new coil springs
give this car a planted, confident stance. The front Hydroboost
power system feeds BAER disc brakes with slotted rotors for modern
stopping performance, while power steering adds ease and precision
to every turn.
Inside, the Malibu's interior blends comfort and style with
performance-oriented upgrades. The Cerullo Restro sport bench seat
has been custom-fitted and finished to match the factory rear seat,
providing bolstered support without sacrificing the classic
appearance. A Custom Autosound retro-style radio with Bluetooth
connectivity allows modern convenience without disrupting the
period-correct look of the cabin. Every detail has been
thoughtfully executed, from the clean interior trim to the
meticulous fit and finish throughout.
This Malibu was clearly built with passion and precision, offering
a balance of muscle car power, road-trip reliability, and nostalgic
design. The body shows great overall with only minor flaws visible
upon close inspection, as shown in the photos. With its strong
mechanicals, detailed documentation, and exceptional performance,
this '64 Malibu Resto-Mod represents the perfect blend of vintage
Chevrolet charm and modern drivability - truly one awesome street
beast ready to turn heads anywhere it goes.
