1979 Oldsmobile Cutlass Calais Hurst/Olds W-30 For Sale
This 1979 Oldsmobile Cutlass Calais Hurst/Olds W-30 is a rare and
highly documented example of one of Oldsmobile's most distinctive
performance collaborations. One of only 2,499 units produced, 1979
marked the final year of the original Hurst/Olds partnership - and
the only year the cars were built entirely by Oldsmobile rather
than being shipped to Hurst for final assembly.
This example comes with an extensive documentation binder,
including:
Copies of internal Hurst communications outlining the
production agreement with General Motors
Correspondence between the owner and the Hurst/Olds Club of
America clarifying key details unique to the 1979 model
An original 1979 GM dealer marketing bulletin for the
Hurst/Olds W-30 package
The original factory build sheet and a copy of the original
window sticker
Hundreds of receipts showing decades of careful maintenance and
restoration history
The car underwent a comprehensive restoration in 2003, and it
continues to present in excellent condition inside and out.
Finished in the unmistakable black and gold H/O W-30 paint scheme,
it represents one of the most iconic color combinations of the late
muscle era.
Power comes from Oldsmobile's 5.7L (350ci) V8 with a 4-barrel
carburetor paired to a TH350 3-speed automatic transmission. The
car retains its correct 2.73 rear gearing, front disc brakes, and
rear drums, while a modern AM/FM radio preserves the vintage dash
look with added functionality.
Recent maintenance includes a new fuel pump and battery installed
this year. With its originality, presentation, and complete
documentation, this Hurst/Olds W-30 stands out as one of the
best-preserved and most well-documented survivors of its kind.
