Here we have a very nice example of the 1976 Porsche 912E. This was a one year only model sold exclusively in the USA. Coming off the heels of the oil embargo and as the 914 had just been cancelled and the 924 was still a year away from its introduction Porsche needed something less expensive and less thirsty than the flat 6 911.
This one is a sunroof coupe finished in its original Sienna and Cork interior. It is powered by a fuel injected 2.0 liter flat 4 carried over from the final edition 914, also known as the VW Type 4. It drives the rear wheels through the Porsche 915 5-speed transaxle. It has 4 wheel disc brakes and the same torsion bar suspension as the the 911.
Many 912E enthusiasts commend the car's more neutral handling due to its lighter weight powerplant than the heavier 911S. The favorable power to weight ratio makes for a fun car that loves to be flung around twisty roads, a driving experience that belies the mere 90 horsepower. Collectors recognize its rarity; with only 2092 produced it is among the rarest Porsche street cars ever offered.
This vintage Porsche is a rust free example that has been repainted in recent history and presents nicely. The interior is very tidy and the cork color scheme is inviting. It runs and drives well and has been thoroughly gone through by experienced air cooled mechanics. It is good to go.
Located in the DFW area it is offered as is where is with a clean Texas Title.
