2000 Volvo V70 XC Turbo Wagon
I purchased this Volvo Wagon for my Dad in 2008 with just 50,000 miles on the odometer. He was making regular trips from CT to VT to see family and we wanted him to be in something AWD and safe. This definitely fit the bill. He drove the car for about 10 years and then was unable to continue driving, so I took the car over and used it as my business vehicle for the last 7 years. It currently has 187,700 miles on it. Being a car guy I have taken very good care of it mechanically from the day I bought it for my dad. Oil has been changed every 5000 miles and always run Mobil 1 synthetic 5-20 and Wix/NAPA Gold or Volvo recommended Mahle oil filters.
Whenever anything needed to be replaced, it was done with an upgraded part.
Starting up front, the lights were replaced with projector low beam, hi-output high beam (with the optional front running light) lights. In the last 2-3 years the tires were replaced (Toyo Celsius - 205/65/R15), the timing belt was replaced, nearly every sensor under the hood, including the cam valve timing sensor( the timing was set a hair advanced for some additional performance), many hoses are red silicone, a new overflow/radiator tank, new alternator, new AC compressor bearing, IPD performance air filter (like a K&N), 5 all new coil on plugs, new spark plugs, new oil cooler and IPD performance hoses, new water pump, new motor mounts, new struts/upper bearings, new Moog greaseable sway bar links, new lower A-Arms and ball joints, drilled/slotted rotors - IPD performance calipers , new tie-rods, new IPD high performance cat, Viva performance 3" stainless exhaust and dual exhaust outlets (Like a V70R), new driveshaft, new rear brakes, new Nivomat rear self leveling shocks, new fuel pump and sending unit and the entire under-body has had two treatments of New Hampshire coatings undercoat/rust proofing.
While there is some minor surface rust on some of the rear suspension components, there is no rust on the body or undercarriage of this car.
The 2.4L Turbo puts out over 200HP and similar torque numbers and pulls strong all the way to redline.
The AWD system still works correctly.
The dark red metallic does show it's age and has sap stains on the hood and roof, the clear coat is peeling on the leading edge of the roof. There are misc small scratches, chips and dings here and there, but overall still looks pretty good, the big detriment is the rippled metal in front of the left rear tail light. It was there when we bought the car for my dad. The Carfax shows a clean history, so not sure what that was from. The tailgate was replaced after my dad accidentally bumped into a tree branch that blew out the rear window, it's bright red, not dark red metallic.
The interior also shows it's age with a massive split on the driver outer bolster, the rest of the leather interior does show some minor cracking, but no other splits, the door card leather is stretched. It's still a comfortable ride though and all the electrics work as they should - heated -power seats, AC blows cold, heat is nice and toasty, power windows, power steering, 4 wheel disc brakes, sunroof, power mirrors, power door locks, fog lights front and rear. I'm told it needs a new security ring on the steering column, this causes the need to turn the key and make an attempt to start the car first, then, turn key off and restart. It works all the time. I'm also told that the keys will need to be coded to the new security ring ... dealer only and probably expensive.
The car comes with a bunch of extra parts including spare coils, sensors, headlights, a new front wheel bearing, oil filters, and an aluminum and silicone turbo pipe kit. I also have an electronic owners manual which will be emailed to the buyer.
Once started, she idles smoothly, the 5 cylinder turbo sound fairly throaty through the new exhaust, the turbo doesn't exhibit much lag and acceleration is swift. She'll cruise easily at 80MPH all day and get 25 MPG on the highway, averaging 20.
There is still a lot of good left in her, great car for a Volvo enthusiast, just time to move on to something different for my business.
Asking price is $2800 obo.
