1957 Mercury Turnpike Cruiser Indy 500 Pace Car Replica Convertible
- Rare Restoration Project
Offered here is a rare 1957 Mercury Turnpike Cruiser Indy 500 Pace
Car Replica Convertible - one of only 1,265 replicas built to
commemorate the 1957 Indianapolis 500! This special Mercury
represents one of the most distinctive and futuristic designs of
the 1950s, combining bold styling, dramatic trim, and impressive
performance for its era.
This example is a restoration project that needs quite a bit of
work, but it does run and drive. It's powered by its original 368
cubic inch V8 engine with dual four-barrel carburetors, paired with
an automatic transmission. The car is solid overall, but it is
missing some interior pieces, trim, and rear bumper parts, and will
require a complete restoration to bring it back to its original
glory. We recently purchased it from the estate of a long-time
collector who had acquired several classic cars but never got the
chance to finish this one.
This rare convertible offers a great opportunity for someone
looking to restore a piece of American automotive history. With its
limited production of just 1,265 Pace Car Replicas, original 368 V8
engine, and distinctive 1950s Mercury styling, it will make a
fantastic project for an enthusiast who wants to bring one of
Mercury's most iconic models back to life.
