When it comes to cruising down the boulevard on a Sunday afternoon,
you need the right car to pull it off. While there are many options
out there, few cars will ever look or feel better than this 1963
Ford Galaxie 500. Having been parked from 1981 until about 2007,
this once-forgotten car comes with an incredible 36,172 (believed)
actual miles on its odometer, along with its original build sheet.
This beautiful two-door is covered in a captivating Heritage
Burgundy exterior and complemented by a Corinthian White sport
roof, making it a stellar example of the inaugural rollout of the
very popular fastback hardtop option.
Inside, we find a very stock-style black vinyl interior. A split
bench seat provides plenty of room up front, while a three-spoke,
power-assisted steering wheel sits ahead of the 120 mph horizontal
speedometer, flanked by fuel and temperature gauges. A Ford Factory
added air-conditioning unit is the highlight of the easy-to-use
HVAC controls. At the same time, the lone upgrade is a custom
Autosound AM/FM/AUX head unit that offers Bluetooth connectivity,
making soundtrack options far more varied than the original unit
could offer.
Under the hood sits a 390 cubic-inch V-8 engine. Originally making
an advertised 300 horsepower, this V-8 motor is topped with a
single four-barrel factory-style carburetor that pumps fuel into
the motor while a dual exhaust with aftermarket mufflers expels all
those spent gases. Power is routed through a tried-and-true
Toploader four-speed manual transmission before being sent out to a
stout nine-inch rear end.
