Super clean square body 4x4 in great colors. 350 cubic inch V8 with
automatic. Cold factory A/C, power steering, power brakes, and
more. Excellent paint and bodywork, nice interior. The truck you've
always wanted to own! Remember when these were everywhere and just
doing their jobs? That's probably why these 'square body' Chevy
pickups so highly sought today. Everyone had a truck like this 1978
Chevrolet Scottsdale 4x4 long bed, and nobody thought to preserve
them as collectors' items. Survival rates on good ones is fairly
low yet everyone has a good memory about them. That's the perfect
recipe for a hot collectable. And when they're as pretty as this
blue and white Scottsdale, falling in love is easy. Someone spent A
LOT of money on this truck in the not-too-distant past, and finish
quality is excellent. The paint gleams in the sun and has a depth
to the shine that's worlds better than whatever GM was doing in
1978. The top-of-the-line Scottsdale got lots of stainless trim,
too, adding to the highly detailed look. There are zero signs of
rust or rot and the bed doesn't look like it ever worked a day in
its life. Nice! The grille, bumpers, mirrors, and all the little
parts have all been restored or replaced to make this truck look
its best. Even the little hood ornament is in surprisingly good
condition. Someone was sweating the details when they put this
truck together. The interior is just as nicely presented, with a
fresh OEM-style vinyl seat cover on the factory bench, GM-spec
carpets, and correct door panels with bright inserts. Sliding
behind the wheel will feel like coming home for a lot of us, and
once you're there you have a tilt steering column to help you get
comfortable as well as a full array of functional gauges. Other
noteworthy options include working factory A/C, cruise control
(untested), dual gas tanks, and a sliding rear window for those
days when it's not quite hot enough for the air conditioning. The
original steering wheel is in great condition, as is the dash pad
which doesn't show any cracking or major issues from sitting out in
the sun. A modern RetroSound AM/FM radio lives in the dash, and it
has been cleverly disguised to look very much like what might have
been there originally. The shifter on the floor controls the
2-speed transfer case, which works in conjunction with manually
locking hubs to activate the 4-wheel-drive system. A correct blue
headliner has been fitted overhead, and it shows no signs of
delamination or sagging so it must be recent. The engine is a 350
cubic inch V8 with a few typical upgrades. There's an Edelbrock
4-barrel carburetor under the chrome air cleaner, plus a set of
ceramic-coated long-tube headers for the dual exhaust system, both
of which probably bolster the small block's torque curve a bit.
Otherwise, it feels just like the truck you used to have?easy
starts thanks to the OEM HEI distributor, a nice idle, and plenty
of power to make the big 4x4 feel energetic in traffic. Corporate
blue engine enamel looks right and there's a massive aluminum
radiator up front to keep things cool. The transmission is a rugged
TH350 3-speed automatic feeding the 2-speed transfer case and axles
with what we believe are 3.54/3.55 gears inside, so it's an easy
cruiser with those big tires. The dual gas tanks look new, and you
can see that things like the brakes, suspension, and steering have
lots of new components. The shiny blue floors suggest this was a
body-off restoration, and the crisp detailing shows only very minor
signs of use?this is a nice truck! The dual exhaust system has a
mellow tone that never gets obnoxious and it sits on 15-inch
Rally-style wheels with big 31x10.50-15 BFGoodrich T/A off-road
radials. It's no surprise that these trucks are massively popular
today. They're reasonably civilized, they have that square-jaw
rugged look that defines the word 'truck,' and with a massive
aftermarket, support is only a phone call away. Someone has already
done all the big, difficult, expensive work here, leaving us with a
gorgeous pickup that shows extremely well. There can't be many
nicer than this. Call today!Harwood Motors always recommends
