Fresh out of my personal collection, I offer this almost pristine example of a forgotten 80's icon. Lee Iacocca was the bain child behind the return o the convertible in the early 1980's and this model, the retro themed Town & Country was the pinnacle. This was THE MOST expensive Chrysler you could buy in 1984. More than any other model, including the Fifth Ave's and New Yorkers. When you bought one of these, you were making a statement while reviving the past.
This car spent it's entire life in the south, having never seen as much as a snowflake. Yes, this is a totally rust free car, something these were prone to. Exactly like he ad for for this year, it's not the typical white you would normally expect. It's a gorgeous shade of Mink Brown Pearl. Has just the right amount of metallic. The upgraded Mark Cross leather interir is two tone brown and sets it off perfectly. A classy K-Car indeed!
It's condition speaks for itself. Nary a scratch or dent to be found. The faux wood sides are about as nice as you'll find on one of these. After all, it was just contact paper and plastic. It's all in very fine condition. I sourced a set of new old stock (brand new, never used) wire wheel covers and center caps! Those are like hens teeth. They are brand new. An extraordinary amount of money has been invested mechanically between myself and the previous owner. Receipts alone that well out number the current asking price! Way too much to list here.
It's equipped with the non turbocharged Mitsubishi 2.6 liter four and the best thing about that is that all the things that made that powertrain tricky has been changed and or upgraded. The over complex Mikuni carburator was tossed in the trash and swapped out with a smooth Holley model. All the over the top emissions that bogged these down has been removed (Sorry California). This car runs like new. It's not the fastest in the race but it's not about speed, it's about pure 80's rad and class!
And yes, it does talk! Tells you when your fuel is low, the keys are left in the ignition and reminds you to fasten your seat belt! All the power windows work perfectly. As does the power locks and drivers seat. The dashboard cluster is oh so 80's digital and it all works. The mileage is just under 67,000 original. The original stereo is still in place and just plays static (typical of these) and the A/C has had a alot of work done to it but still only holds a full charge for a short time. We gave up on that. Honestly, I've never really driven it with the top up so I don't care.
It's a great car but I don't have the space I used to for my personal cars which there are far too many of. It's time to find another loving caretaker. Undoubtedly one of the finest examples in the country. Just a fun and affordable car from the decade of decadence. This car will turn heads everywhere you go. I know.
Check out the gallery of photos. I plan to take many more in the not too distant future. I will also be doing one of my ever so famous YouTube videos on the car also. Reserve your place in line now for this beauty!
