Seller purchased the vehicle right out of high school in 1982 from a private sale. Had the body work done in 1988 and it's still in great shape after all these years. Seller owned the vehicle till 1998 when he sold it to a person in his home town. Seller ended up purchasing it back from him in 2015. Major updates have been done in 2025 including:
A complete tune up
New Holley carburetor rebuilt
New battery
New water pump
New alternator
New air shocks and rear springs
New convertible top motor
New exhaust and mufflers
New fuel tank sending unit
The car has a 1968 Oldsmobile Delta 98 455 engine in it but has the original 2 speed Jetaway transmission with the shifter on the column, the original rear end it's original 4 wheel drum brakes. The motor runs very well and still has a ton of power. The interior needs some TLC. The front seats are out of a 1969 Chevelle but has the original rear seat. The door panels are original but should be replaced. The convertible top is in great shape and works well with the new motor but the rear window will not stay zipped up.
Seller has a spare hood, trunk lid and a complete dashboard that are all in great shape that are included in the sale.
This car is extremely rare. In 1965, 10,578 Oldsmobile 442's with automatic transmissions were produced. Out of those 442 convertibles produced that year only 1,683 had the Jetaway 2 speed transmission.
