The 1936 Ford Phaeton is an iconic example of pre-war American
automotive design, known for its elegant styling and open-air
luxury plus low production numbers for this body style.
True American Touring Automobile-
Part of Ford's 'Model 68' lineup, the Phaeton is a four-door
convertible that combines practicality with sophistication. The
Phaeton represented the final years of true open touring cars
before fully enclosed sedans became dominant. It was a very limited
production model.
Restored To Perfection-
This impressive Phaeton is from the collection of the late Ford
restoration specialist Dennis Carpenter and was the beneficiary of
a comprehensive restoration by the Carpenter team in 2010. A
striking coat of Sheridan Blue was carefully applied and looks
amazing. All chrome is outstanding with accents that include the
classic hood ornament and an impressive beige convertible top.
Factory 'spider wheels' with 'V8' hubcaps, trim rings mount
Firestone 6.00 x 16 wide-white bias ply tires.
Stunning Interior-
The interior is completely restored with seating that is
upholstered in stately brown leather that looks much better than
new. A stunning burlwood dash holds factory gauges behind a
beautiful classic 'banjo' wheel. Every detail is finished to
perfection.
Power And Good Looks-
This handsome Ford is powered by a built 365ci Cadillac V8 (circa
1956-58), bored .060 over and fitted with a 3x2-barrel
intake/carbs. It runs as smoothly as silk, produces substantially
more horsepower than original flathead and is backed by a 3-speed
manual transmission w/factory floor mounted shifter.
But Wait, There Is More-
A fully restored, spotless chassis mounts front/rear transverse
leaf spring suspension, and the mechanical brakes have been
upgraded to 4-wheel hydraulic drum units. Finally, the electricals
have been converted to a 12-volt system.
Because of its limited production numbers and elegant design, the
Ford Phaeton is a highly sought-after collector's vehicle. It is
appreciated for its classic styling, historical significance and
connection to Ford's golden age of V8 innovation.
