This 1969 Ranchero has come a long way in its 56 years.  While its past might have been spent as a grocery getter with a 6-cylinder engine, its present is much different.  With a tubbed body, crimson paint, fuel-injected 351W, and loads of other upgrades this one plays a new role these days.

This mild Pro-Street build was a multi-year project completed in 2010.  It started with a clean vehicle from Arizona that was taken to Jeffers Pro Cars for its transformation.  Originally white, it was refinished in Chrysler BM5 Crimson Red which included the bumpers for a sleeker look.  The hood and fenders were louvered while the front bumper and turn signals were also modified.  Big changes came in back where the bed was tubbed and the unibody was modified and strengthened accordingly.  The tailgate and rear bumper were customized as well with a relocated license plate.  A 20-gallon fuel cell was installed underneath.  The car rides on 165/80R15 front tires from 2016 and big Mickey Thompson 31x16R15 rears from 2008.

Under the hood lies a well-built Ford 351W.  Highlights include a Lunati Voodoo camshaft, Edelbrock E-Street aluminum heads, Holley Sniper 2 fuel injection, and Summit digital ignition.  It is also equipped with a Griffin aluminum radiator, Doug’s ceramic coated headers, and billet aluminum pulleys.  The transmission is a C4 automatic with a Performance Automotive valve body, Hughes torque converter, and TCI flexplate.  This is followed by an Art Morrison 9” rear end containing a Strange center section with 3.50 gears and 31-spline axles.  The suspension uses Eaton springs and KYB shocks in front and QA1 adjustable coilover assemblies in back.  Additional mechanicals include Borgeson power steering and Master power front disc brakes.

Looking inside shows a nicely customized interior with Corbeau seats flanking a center console and Lokar floor shifter.  Note the custom airbrushing under the console lid – very cool!  The dashboard was restored by Just Dashes and all seals are from Dearborn Classics.  Other features include a Painless wiring harness, AutoMeter gauge set, and rear mounted Kenwood stereo with remote.  There is also a Holley Roll Control line lock if you want to have a little fun.  The lights, turn signals, horn, heater / defroster, gauges, and parking brake all work properly too.

This is a one-of-a-kind Ranchero that was professionally built with lots of great proven parts.  Many of the custom touches are rather subtle and might be missed at first, but when you compare it to a factory offering you can really see the differences.  It’s also a reliable head-turner that will not have many equals at your next car show or cruise night.
