1948 Willys Jeep
VIN: IDA30529
This Jeep was bought new by a Land Surveyor in Alaska. The CJ-2A was well suited to take the surveyor where he need to go...regardless of location. The Jeep was used extensively throughout his career, when, finally, the Jeep said "no more". The Frame and Running Gear, having been all over the wilds of Alaska, were done.
With the Body still serviceable, it was determined that a 1967 Jeep CJ5 Chassis would serve well underneath. The body, with some ingenuity and "creative" modifications, was affixed to the CJ5 Chassis. The body was painted to it's current Yellow with Rims to match. A Roll Cage was fitted to the Jeep and a Custom Full Top and Doors crafted for year-round driving.
The current owner, having acquired the Jeep from the original owner, describes the Jeep as "Alaskan all the way around." It rides on studded snow tires on all wheels and side mirrors were installed for driving safety. The Jeep retains the CJ5 gearing and road performance typical for 1968...low gearing, careful in the corners, but have some fun!
