Anniversaries are meant to be celebrated. Few cars make it to the
quarter-century mark, and even fewer with the style and legacy that
this 1992 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 25th Anniversary brings to the
table. First-gen hood and deck lid stripes, trick faux hood scoops,
black headlamp pockets, and a big decklid spoiler -this
third-generation Pony Car has a mere 118,912 actual miles on its
odometer. Fully repainted in its factory Purple Haze Metallic, this
super rare Camaro is one of just 55 offered in this color and one
of only 15 to come in Purple as a hardtop, as if this anniversary
model needs any more reasons to be celebrated.
Inside, we find a cool grey leather interior that looks great for
its age. A center console separates a pair of plush and supportive
bucket seats, with the driver's seat getting power adjustment. The
padded and power-assisted four-spoke steering wheel sits just
forward of the original six-pod analog gauge cluster, which
features a 140 mph speedometer and a 7,000 RPM tach. Reminding you
of how easy driving used to be, the slider and knob HVAC controls
allow simple temperature control and include functioning air
conditioning. Thankfully, though, the stereo has embraced modern
tech and been upgraded to a Pioneer AM/FM/CD/AUX head unit. Power
locks, windows, and mirrors along with cruise control offer plenty
of modern amenities for an early 1990s vehicle. A well-placed 25th
Anniversary Commemorative Edition sits on the glove box door panel
to remind you that this is no ordinary Z/28.
Under that expansive hood, we find a 350-cubic-inch overhead-valve
crate V-8 engine. With electronic fuel injection, shorty headers,
and a MagnaFlow exhaust, this small block sends power to the rear
wheels via a 700R4 four-speed automatic transmission and ten bolt
rear end. Sixteen-inch five-spoke factory wheels wrapped in Kumho
rubber complete the aggressive style this modern muscle car
embodies.
