West Coast Classics are proud to present a very rare and beautiful
restoration example of a climate controlled facility since being
restored all original 1936 Henry Ford steel rare 2 door 221 c.i.
85HP V8 Deluxe Club 2 seater Cabriolet with 2 seater rumble seat
& cabriolet roll up windows. Flathead V8 with 85HP. Very
desirable and correct example which was recently acquired from a
private collection.A beautiful restoration in wonderful colors of
classic 'Washington Blue' over an absolutely beautiful Tan leather
interior. Numerous correct finishes throughout with many factory
and period accessories. A rare 2 passenger body style Cabriolet
with the rumble seat, which is distinct from the Club Cabriolet
with the enclosed trunk, instead of a rumble seat, at its very
finest.By 1934, Ford blanketed much of the automobile market,
offering a wide range of no fewer than 12 distinct models to the
buying public. Available models ranged from basic coupes,
roadsters, and two-door sedans to more luxurious and well-appointed
cabriolets, convertible sedans, and four-door sedans. Most
importantly, Ford put high-quality automobiles within reach of
ordinary Americans with low prices and rock-solid reliability. While
some buyers might have only been able to afford a basic
four-cylinder, two-door coupe priced from $465, the handsome $590
V-8 cabriolet was one of the upscale models that brought them into
Ford showrooms. Equipped with roll-up windows and a snug cloth top,
the cabriolet combined comfortable and complete appointments with
the performance benefits of Fords steadily refined 85-hp V-8 engine
and sturdy yet lightweight construction.By 1936 Fords received a
handsome facelift that included a graceful V shaped grille with
vertical bars with the horns now hidden behind front fender mounted
grilles. Wire spokes were replaced across the line by new
'artillery style' wheels but the sole powerplant remained the 221
cubic inch 85 horsepower flathead V8. By 1937, as per the industry
trend, the Fords became even more streamlined with the headlamps
incorporated into the front fender aprons and the prominently V
grille was stretched and sloped backwards. Fenders were curvier and
more streamlined also. A smaller displacement V8 rated at 60HP was
now offered on all but the DeLuxe models, aimed at buyers looking
for a standard size car that was cheaper to run although these
engines proved to be underpowered compared to the DeLuxe's 85.The
1936 V8 85HP DeLuxe cabriolet offered here is beautifully presented
in probably the most striking of color combinations; 'Washington
Blue' with a stunning Tan leather interior in the correct pattern,
exceptional wood-grained trim (including the dashboard and window
turns), and proper Ford script glass in the side windows and back
window. The bodywork is impressively straight, with fresh welting
and rubber seats, and the brightwork, including both chrome and
stainless, is very attractive. Its engine bay has an excellent,
stock appearance, with an original air cleaner and generator,
factory manifolds and exhaust, and proper detailing down to the
correct hose clamps. Desirable accessories fitted included a jewel
cigar lighter, rear-view mirror, original Ford clock, chrome bumper
guards, as well as matching 'Washington Blue' stock V8 hub caps
with trim rings. This rust free 1936 Ford Deluxe Cabriolet is
equipped with full-length running boards on each side, the side
hood panels are vented, and the front and rear bumpers, headlight
rings, sideview mirrors, and door handles are chrome-finished and
whitewall tires are mounted on all four cornersThis rare original
all-steel 1936 Ford Deluxe 2 passenger Cabriolet with rumble seat
is powered by a rebuilt 221ci Flathead V8 85 paired with a floor
mounted 3-speed manual transmission. A very fine example that will
please even the most devout Ford enthusiast, this is among the
nicest 1936 Ford cabriolets available, with an impressive, correct
look that makes it a standout even among the rarefied few.
