of E-Type Jaguars, with the legendary glass covered headlights,
small 'mouth' opening at the front, 4.2L liter engine with the
triple SU carburetors, aircraft style toggle switches and rear tail
and signal lamps positioned handsomely above the chrome rear
bumper!Converting to a Getrag five-speed transmission had proved to
be a frequent modification to E-Types that gave owners a more
modern driving experience, especially with a highway-friendly
overdrive fifth gear. However, finding an original Getrag 265 for
these conversions has become more difficult and costly since the
company was acquired by Magna Powertrain in 2015. Modern conversion
kits often use alternative transmissions, like the Tremec T5,
adapted for the E-Type. Getrag was a very well respected German
manufacturer founded in Ludwisgsburg, Germany in 1935 and which was
in business until 2015 when it was fully acquired by Magna
Powertrain for $1.9B and their 5 speed transmissions are widely
considered to be the ultimate Etype upgrade transmission due its
very fine German craftsmanship. This car is a prime example of a
beautifully frame off restored example of a 1965 Jaguar Series I
Roadster with a Getrag 5 speed manual transmission and with the
floor boards and all the typical rust-prone areas completely solid,
original and rust-free! The car has no signs of any accidents and
has a razor straight body.
