This gorgeous 1967 Chevrolet Chevelle 427 Custom is an exciting classic American muscle car with many upgrades. The second generation Chevelle was produced from 1964 through 1967 of which the new body-style was introduced in 1966. As the original VIN number indicates this example was originally built in Fremont, California as a 1967 Chevelle Malibu Sport Coupe with an 8-cylinder engine. It was professionally built by Back Bay Customs located in Portland, Maine for the previous owner Charles “Skippa” Libby. The vision of the build was crate the ultimate street machine with the perfect blend of old school and new school. From the information gathered the car was product of a meticulous two year rotisserie restoration that was started in 2022 and completed in 2024. The documented build cost was $246,843.52 which didn't include the cost of the car. This car has been refinished to high how quality standards throughout. The exterior is simply striking with its iconic factory design and beautiful color combination. During the restoration process most of the sheet metal was replaced new which is fully documented with receipts and photos. Countless hours were spent making the body straight along with excellent panel fitment throughout. The hood, doors and trunk close very nicely. The car was finished in its original factory correct color of Nantucket Blue which looks stunning. The paint is high show quality throughout and was recently detailed by the team at MS CLASSIC CARS. The tucked front and rear bumpers were also finished in Nantucket Blue for a unique appearance. The wiper arms, glass trim, hood louvers and trim, front grill, door handles, trunk lid trim and tail light bezels were finished in matte black. The tail panel was wrapped in matte black so it can be removed in the future if desired. Some of the custom exterior features include all new tinted glass throughout, Ring Brothers black billet mirrors, Uni-shine LED headlights with daytime running lights and black front air dam. The front fenders were decorated with 427 cross flag emblems. The car has a great stance on new BOZE B1 Flo-Lite Satin Black wheels that are 18 x 8 on the front and 18x10 on the rear. The wheels are wrapped with new Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 tires that are 235-40-18 on the front and 275-40-18 on the rear.
The interior was tastefully designed with modest custom touches throughout. The entire cabin was covered with sound deadening. The entire car was professionally rewired with American Autowire products. The wiring is very neat and organized throughout. It was refinished with a completely new black interior which compliments the exterior perfectly. Some of the upholstery includes the headliner, TMI sun visors, factory door panels, TMI Pro Series low back bucket seats with front and rear seat belts. Some the custom features include a modified black trimmed dash, Dakota Digital HDX gauges, lights knob, wipers knob, Flaming River black tilt steering wheel column, Billet Specialties black 14” Victory steering wheel, LG billet door strikers, full console with clock, B&M black shifter, Billet Specialties black levers, door handles and window cranks, Lokar black pedals including the emergency brake, Custom Autosound USA 740 radio with dash center speaker and molded Chevelle embossed carpeted floor mats. This vehicle doesn't have heat or air conditioning and there are a few small wrinkles in the headliner. The trunk compartment was restored and refinished in the correct style trunk splatter paint. It was outfitted with a black Chevelle embossed carpeted trunk mat.
The engine compartment is highly detailed throughout with new parts. The backside of the hood was painted Nantucket Blue and it pivots on Eddie Motorsports black billet hinges. The smoothed firewall and inner fenders were also painted Nantucket Blue. The black radiator support was outfitted with a custom black show panel that proudly displays Back Bay Customs plaque. The car is powered by a new fuel-injected GM Performance ZZ427 crate engine that was dyno tested with 534 horsepower and 536 lb-ft of torque. The engine dyno sheets are included. The engine is fed through a Holley fuel injection system with a Terminator Stealth EFI carburetor, Sniper coil, Hyper Spark distributor and HP ECU. Some of the features include black Chevrolet 427 valve covers, black round air cleaner with 427 Cross flags and horse power decals. CVF black pulley system, black radiator thermostat housing, Lokar throttle cable, black billet dip stick, Chevrolet Performance wires, Milden Gold oil pan, Aeromotive fuel pressure regulator, Power Master 9500 starter, 140-amp GM 1-wire alternator and NAPA Legend battery. It's equipped with a New Port engineering wiper motor, Bosch electric power brake booster and Wilwood master cylinder. The engine is cooled by a Cold Case black aluminum radiator with dual electric fans, custom black cap and braided overfill line. The engine breathes through Flow Master ceramic long-tube headers and a 3” stainless dual exhaust system with Hooker mufflers. The engine is coupled to a TCI Street Fighter Turbo 400 automatic transmission with black finned pan. The power is transferred to an Action Machine custom driveshaft and Moser 12-bolt POSI rear end with 3.73 gears. It's equipped with power rack and pinion steering with a Turn 1 pump, Holley black billet reservoir and CPP u-joints.
The undercarriage is also highly detailed throughout with new parts. The underside was finished in Nantucket Blue textured paint for durability. The underneath of this car should be displayed with mirrors at a car show. The frame was stripped, prepped, primed and painted black. The frame was outfitted with a Summit Racing frame brace kit which is constructed from DOM tubing. This kit strengthens the frame and improves the overall handling. It's equipped with a UniSteer Performance Products power rack and pinion steering with a Turn 1 pump, Holley black billet reservoir and CPP u-joints. It was setup with a Tanks fuel tank that was powder coated. The suspension consist of a Global West Suspension kit which includes the upper and lower control arms, sway bar and front coil over shocks. The rear shocks are QA1 coil overs. It's equipped with Wilwood power four wheel disc brakes that include black calipers, drilled and slotted rotors.
