"With their pure, projectile like styling, the third generation
1961-63 Thunderbirds have become known as the Bullet Birds.
Somehow, the generations of Ford Thunderbird often manage to
inspire nicknames. The original two seat Thunderbirds of 1955-57
are called the Baby Birds. The second generation four-seaters of
1958-60 won the name Square Birds and the third generation 1961-63
Thunderbirds, with their pure, projectile- ike styling, will
forever be known as the Bullet Birds." Macsmotorcitygarage.com,

For consignment, a 1962 Ford Thunderbird hardtop with a title
verified 148,975 actual miles. Bullet birds, thanks to their sleek
design, lend themselves to customizations, like this fully custom
car. If owning one of a kind is on your bucket list, this one will
do the trick!
Exterior
Can't miss Lime Green paint brightens this bird and is augmented by
wildly reflective side trim on the custom side spears, hood
stripes, and c-pillar trim, all bordered in red. A custom sculpted
plate fronts the hood scoop and three velocity stacks face forward
from an oval opening. Custom mirrors, bullet fronted door handles
and window trim, recessed torpedo tail lights, all part of this
feast for the eyes! The grille also features bullet details between
dressed headlights and the 15-inch polished American Racing Torque
Thrust wheels are complex works of art with bullet hubs, reflective
inserts, and red line trim on white wall tires. The rears, however,
are shrouded by the lime green fender skirt. Finally, faux side
pipes add a stretch of chrome to the bottom. The paint, trim, and
custom features are in great shape and we could not find any
exterior imperfections.
Interior
More of that turned metal reflective trim occupies an insert in
each door, surrounded by white vinyl panels and a black carpeted
lower. White vinyl also covers the bucket seats and rear 2+2. It's
bullets galore on the inside where there might be more full metal
jacket trim pieces in here than in your gun safe, and these little
chrome cones create a reflective sparkle in back and in the front
where they sprout on the dash and center console. The rainbow
reflecting turned metal trim is everywhere as well, including the
steering wheel, accented with lime, and the gauge cluster, also
featuring lime rings and buttons under a white dash pad. An AM
radio and CD player are present along with added gauges in the
center, while black carpet is protected by lime shag mats. Faux
black fur is on the headliner with tribble-like fur balls in white
and lime scattered throughout. Wild! And more attention to detail
with lime rails and LED lights overhead. The trunk is kept
relatively conservative with clean black carpeted mats and a spare
white wall.
Drivetrain
Beautifully customized with lime and white paint plus anodized gold
trim, here we have a show quality 390ci V8 with three 2-barrel
Holley carburetors over an Edelbrock intake. Behind it resides a
Cruise-O-Matic 3-speed automatic transmission sending power to the
Ford 9" in back with 3.00 gears.
Undercarriage
Spotless and clean underneath, not a surprise! We have dual exhaust
that runs through Magnaflow mufflers and terminates under the car.
Power drum brakes are at all four wheels and suspension consists of
coil springs up front and leaf springs in the back. No rust, no
oil, no road dirt.
Drive-Ability
There are two ways to get instant notice in a car, sound and color
and this one brightens up Morgantown the minute it leaves the mall
to circle our test loop. The three carbs work together to deliver a
smooth ride, and the car sounds nice as it accelerates forward,
tracking straight and offering good turn-ins with its low center of
gravity. Functionally, the A/C and clock are not working but all
other operations do as intended. While Classic Auto Mall represents
that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we
cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of
your purchase.
This is an incredible custom build that is ready to hit the show
circuit to collect its oohs and aahs from an adoring audience. Even
if you're not a Thunderbird fan, this one will stop you in your
tracks with its quality, coordinated touches. If you are a
Thunderbird fan, this is one nobody else will have and will stop
you in your tracks every time you open the garage door.
