Cruisin Classics is pleased to present to you this 1973 Plymouth
Road Runner. This low-mileage Mopar comes to us today dressed in a
respray of its original color - Spinnaker White with red transverse
stripes. The colors look great on this fuselage-style B-body, and
the paint is driver quality. The front end looks aggressive with a
muscular "power bulge" hood that features dual faux air intakes and
hood pins. Dual side-by-side round headlights in bright bezels
flank a two-tier eggcrate grille with a red horizontal accent
stripe, and beneath is a nice chrome bumper with black guards.
Looking at the side of this Road Runner, you'll see copious amounts
of brightwork like windshield trim, dual side mirrors, drip rail
molding, wheel lip molding, rocker molding, door handles, and
fender-top turn signal indicators. Tinted windows add to the look
and keep things cooler on hot summer days. Adding more pop to the
side view are a set of Crager SS wheels wrapped in BF Goodrich
white-letter Radial T/A's. Around back, you'll find a chrome bumper
(light pitting) with integrated taillights and black guards and a
set of factory "machine gun" slotted exhaust tips. Colorful Road
Runner decals adorn the front nose, C-pillars, and decklid. The
floorpans, trunk floor, and rear quarters are all original and in
good condition.
Slip the pins and lift the hood to find a stock engine bay with a
numbers-matching 318ci V-8 at the center (last 8 digits of VIN are
on the passenger-side oil pan rail under the car). The blue block
is topped off with blue valve covers, a Carter BBD 2-barrel
carburetor with matching intake manifold, and a black air cleaner
with "318ci High Performance" decal. Other highlights under the
hood include a 26" radiator, Chrysler electronic ignition, power
steering, power brakes (front discs and rear drums), and working
factory air conditioning. The V-8 is mated to a Chrysler A904
Torqueflite 3-speed automatic transmission that sends power to the
rear via an 8 " rear axle with open 2.71:1 rear gears - perfect
for freeway cruising. Exhaust flows from cast manifolds through
Flowmaster 44 mufflers and exits the tips with a nice rumble. With
standard equipment such as power disc brakes up front, front and
rear sway-bars, heavy-duty leaf springs and torsion bars, and
isolated front and rear suspension, this car is much more
pleasurable to drive than its older B-body cousins.
The interior of this Road Runner, just like the rest of the car, is
still outfitted the way it was built, according to the fender tag.
Swing open the door, and the dome light comes on to shine a light
on a good-looking white and black interior. The door panels appear
OEM-original with white vinyl, a bright accent strip, and a
driver's mirror toggle. Up front are white vinyl bucket seats in
good condition. The bench seat in the rear is done in the same
style and is also in good condition. Between the front buckets is a
black center console with a storage box, faux woodgrain veneer, and
a "Slap Stik" shifter for the automatic transmission. Ahead of the
driver is a 3-spoke black steering wheel with a Road Runner bird at
the center and a working "beep beep" horn. Beyond is a crack-free
black vinyl dash pad and a black dash with a faux woodgrain gauge
bezel and accent strip. The round gauges include oil, fuel, temp,
and alt as well as a 120mph speedometer and 7K tachometer. The
odometer reads 49,330 miles, and the title claims them to be
actual. Original HVAC controls are to the driver's left, and they
offer cold A/C and hot heat with a strong fan. Also on the left are
controls for the lights and working 2-speed wipers. To the right is
the original solid-state AM radio that powers up and emits static
through the dash speaker, but doesn't pull in stations. The AM
radio likely won't pull in stations because the antenna is now
connected to a Dual AM/FM/CD head unit mounted in the glovebox that
plays through a set of 6X9s in the rear package tray. Ahead of the
passenger is a woodgrain accent strip with a "road runner" badge
and a bird above the glovebox. Overhead is a tight white perforated
vinyl headliner and shoulder safety restraints for the front
passengers. Underfoot is good quality hook & loop carpet with
carpeted logo floormats. Back in the trunk, you'll find a vinyl
mat, a bias-ply white-wall spare, and a factory-style jack.
If you're on the hunt for a Road Runner or just a cool muscle car
that looks great and won't break the bank, you're going to want to
give this '73 a serious look! This car is outfitted with desirable
factory options like power steering, power brakes, cold A/C, and
bucket seats with a console, and it is a fantastic driver out on
the road! Give us a call today and make this awesome Mopar your
own!
