1998 marked the final year of the Porsche 993 generation, but also
was the last year that Porsche would be offering air-cooled sports
cars. Eager to buy one of the last 911s from the air-cooled modern
era, the 993 generation of 911s were incredibly popular due to
their quality, handling, power delivery, comfort, and overall being
able to do everything well. Designed from the ground up both
mechanically and cosmetically, the 993 was considered to be the
best-driving 911 built to date and also carried a subtle beauty to
its design. Unsure of what the future of the 911 would bring with
water cooling, the 993 was believed by collectors to be the final
triumph. Those who were fortunate to find themselves purchasing one
of these final 911s were treated to one of the greatest driving
experiences a Porsche could provide, with all the refinements and
improvements that you'd come to expect from a company like
Porsche.
This 1998 Porsche 911 C2S was ordered by Rusnak Westlake Porsche
and was delivered on October 1st, 1997. Spec'd in the rare Ocean
Blue Metallic with a Cashmere leather interior, the car was ordered
for its first owner, Christopher Conners of Camarillo, California,
and took delivery and registered the car on October 27th, 1997.
Optioned a 6-speed manual transmission, 18" Technology "Turbo
Twist" wheels with hollow spokes, AM/FM radio with a 6-disc CD
changer, Arctic Silver wheel caps, automatic speed control, a Hi-Fi
sound system with 8 speakers, and a sun-moon-roof, this C2S is a
perfect blend of subtle upgrades with an outstanding color
combination.
Conners kept his car for almost 20 years, driving it sparingly and
only accumulating 9,948 miles during his ownership, keeping his car
serviced regularly and in pristine condition. The 2nd owner kept
the car for 6 years, adding just under 4,800 miles to the odometer
before arriving at Canepa in 2023. It was apparent that the
previous owners took fastidious care of the C2S from its fantastic
condition. Unsurprisingly, the C2S sold quickly to its third owner,
who has kept the car in similar pristine condition for the last 2
years, adding just shy of 1,200 miles to the odometer.
Upon arrival at Canepa, the car was thoroughly checked both
cosmetically and mechanically. Still in the same condition as it
left, this Ocean Blue Metallic C2S is a rarity. Preparing for
Canepa's showroom, the 911 went through the "Canepa Difference"
process where the original Ocean Blue Metallic paint received a
foam-pad polish to enhance the already impressive luster, and all
surfaces throughout the car were cleaned. As expected, the 911 did
not need very much attention due to its fantastic caretakers and
their treatment of the car for the last 28 years.
One of the most sought-after air-cooled Porsches today, the 911 C2S
represents the final culmination of air-cooled evolution, with all
the refinements and performance enhancements Porsche could throw at
the naturally aspirated C2S. With a 6-speed manual transmission,
wide Turbo bodywork, and rear wheel drive paired with a fantastic
driving experience, this 911 C2S is ready and is prepared to be
enjoyed to the fullest for the next 30 years.
