The soul of this 105 Land Cruiser stays true to the original Land Cruisers built in 1951, featuring front and rear solid axles, a manual transmission, and straightforward analog gauges. Under the hood lies arguably Toyota's most reliable powerplant ever produced; the legendary 1HZ 4.2L inline-six diesel, built to survive a nuclear holocaust.Looking to make upgrades to your Toyota? It is a GCC (Gulf Corporation Council) model manufactured in Japan. The GCC required certain features due to the regional laws and climate conditions, including a mandatory fire extinguisher which is still in the vehicle. A mechanical review was completed in the UAE by a specialty shop and suspension upgrades were performed by Dobinsons UAE. A lengthy list of mechanicals items were addressed and completely documented. Contact us to review the service history. The 1999 Toyota Land Cruiser HZJ105 bridges the mechanical toughness of the 80 Series with the refinement of the 100. Equipped with Toyota's legendary 1HZ naturally aspirated diesel engine, this Land Cruiser embodies reliability and mechanical simplicity. Limited electronics, no complexity, just rock-solid reliable Toyota engineering.Paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox and part-time four-wheel drive, the HZJ105 is built for global travel, backcountry exploration, and everyday use. The suspension has been upgraded with a Dobinsons system, including lift springs, shocks, and a steering damper for improved ride quality and handling both on- and off-road.The exterior is finished in full repainted Blue Steel Metallic accented all around by a lower two-tone gray paint and classic side graphics. Originally, green, it the repaint involved a full tear-down, with the only remaining green we can see underneath the vehicle. Immediately, Toyota fanboys will notice the rear ambulance doors (SOB - swing open back) and rear tire carrier not found on the US spec 100 Series. Looking at this unicorn from 20' away you immediately notice the improved look that is the result of a bit of extra height. The oversize BFGoodrich All-Terrain KO3 fit great in the wheel wells without being too much and the 17' chrome alloy Method wheels add a bit of sex appeal. The stance is near perfect, the undercarriage extraordinarily clean, and the overall condition of the body reflects its desert dwelling life.Inside, the cabin is the original interior with patterned gray cloth upholstery and blue accents. A few GCC feature can be found inside including a center console cooler box, fire extinguisher, inward facing rear bench seats in the cargo area, no sunroof (slick roof), dual fuel tank switch, and a clutch pedal with a 5-speed. Features include air conditioning, manual cloth seats, power windows, power mirrors, central locking, power steering, and power disc brakes. The overall presentation remains faithful to Toyota's utilitarian ethos ? comfortable, simple, and built to last. Car Cave did not recondition the interior, and the door cards show excessive wear.Recent Work Completed - Approximately $14,000 of recent work using Toyota OEM parts for maintenance and high-quality supplier for upgrade or aftermarket.Full Suspension Rebuild and Lift: Dobinsons coil springs, gas shocks, and steering damper installed with professional labor.Polyurethane Bush Kit: All major suspension and chassis bushings replaced, including front and rear radius arms, upper and lower control arms, sway bars, and panhard rods.Comprehensive Mechanical Refresh: Thermostat, radiator, engine oil filter, 10W40 Castrol oil change, fuel filter, air filter, timing belt kit (belt and tensioners), water pump, power steering pump, and all drive belts replaced.Brake System Overhaul: New front and rear pads, rear brake discs, and brake master cylinder with full fluid service.Driveline Service: Gearbox, transfer case, and both differentials drained and refilled (including LSD oil).Axle: New rear wheel bearings, seals, and 20 new wheel studs installed.Cooling System Service: New radiator hoses, fan shroud, coolant reservoir, and new cam and crank seals.Interior & Undercarriage: Full underbody protective coating, interior/exterior detailing, and body polishing.New Wheels & Tires: BFGoodrich All-Terrain KO3 285/70R17 tires mounted on Method 17x8.5 alloy wheels with 30mm H&R spacers.Additional Upgrades: Rear hub flange, new fan blade, rocker cover gasket, fuel filter cap with pump and switch, A/C condenser, A/C valve, A/C hose, and full refrigerant recharge.Paintwork: Bonnet refinished due to a paint protection sticker from previous owner.Recent service documentation accompanies the vehicle. If you're seeking a diesel-powered Land Cruiser that combines mechanical purity, off-road capability, and long-term reliability, this 1999 Toyota Land Cruiser HZJ105 is the one for you.
