"Ruthless performance notwithstanding, I usually tire of the
Corvette quickly, instead yearning for a more polished implement
like a Porsche Cayman. Sure, I enjoyed the urgent, chest resonating
roar from the new exhaust, but the gains in refinement, a
remarkably upscale stitched leather dash; a friendlier, lighter
effort shifter; and dramatically improved steering feel are far
more significant." Car and Driver, Sept. 2007
For consignment, a 2008 Chevrolet Corvette 2LT coupe with a title
verified 18,879 actual miles. Car and Driver also wrote, "This '08
is an evolutionary step forward from the '07. Pretty hard to feel
the increased horsepower and torque; both cars move on the back
roads. The '08's steering, however, feels measurably better: No
twitchiness, and it's light but highly communicative".
Exterior
This integrated bumper, sealed headlights, no audacious chrome just
pure performance oriented sculpted exterior is bathed in a
beautiful Crystal Claret tintcoat. There's added rocker trim,
fascia spoiler, and rear spoiler, all in black, which give the car
a more race like profile and visually drop it closer to the ground.
18-inch black spoked wheels in front and 19's in the rear, all
carry low profile, ZR rated tires with an early 2024 date code.
Tinted glass and black door handles blend with the exterior palette
nicely while large dark exhaust tips put an exclamation point on
the exterior. A single, touched up scratch is the only exterior
imperfection we find.
Interior
Black and Cashmere are utilized on the inside beginning with the
panels, two tone affairs with black uppers and tan below, taking in
all the hardware and switchgear as well as an integrated speaker
and storage bin. The seats are in excellent shape, tan leather with
robust side bolstering and tall headrests, each with both
electronic and manual adjustment gear, part of the 2LT package. A
meaty leather wrapped steering wheel in black fronts an attractive
instrument cluster with bright red needles while the center stack
houses an interactive screen, AM/FM/CD player, and simple A/C
panel, all backed by a carbon fiber faceplate which cascades onto
the center console that houses the shifter, favored to the driver's
side, and wearing a black boot. Tan carpet floods the floors with
black protective mats, while the cargo area is cloaked in
contrasting gray carpet, all in excellent condition.
Drivetrain
Under the front flipping hood, is a 6.2 liter LS3 eight cylinder
that presents in showroom condition with the requisite red writing
on the covers. It's mated to a 6L80E 6-speed automatic that
utilizes a paddle shifter on the steering wheel option if you so
desire and together the components generate 430 horsepower, routed
to the limited slip rear axle with 2.73 gears.
Undercarriage
Clean conditions prevail underneath where spider webs are the only
thing that look out of place. Suspension includes a complex, race
inspired arrangement of A-arms, transverse composite mono leaf
springs, tube shock absorbers and anti roll bars. The dual exhaust
has had the mufflers deleted and aftermarket quad tips connected to
the back. Naturally, power disc brakes are on all four wheels.
Drive-Ability
The comfortable cabin feels like a well appointed race car, because
essentially that's what this sports car represents! The LS3 starts
up with authority and the sound is more healthy growl than low key
rumble, and alters the attitude of the car and maybe even adding a
couple of horses to the mix. At any rate, the car handles, pulls,
and stops with perfection and in this low mileage example, all
functions operate as they should and we're satisfied to put this
one under the lights for others to fall in love with it. While
Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at
the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions
will be working at the time of your purchase.
Remember that dream you had about owning a C6 Corvette? Well, looks
like a nice one landed at the mall to help you fulfill that dream!
It checks all the boxes, great color, low mileage, newer tires,
tasteful mods, ready to go. Don't hit the snooze button on this
one.
