And for those who want something more in terms of handling. The Z28 comes standard with a 350 4-barrel V8, dual exhausts, (sic), sport suspension, special 15x7 wheels, Positraction, black finish grille, and sport mirrors on both sides. Spoilers, almost a Z28 trademark by now, are yours both front and rear for the ordering. And is the Z nimble? Quick? That's the whole Camaro story." From the 1973 sales brochure.

For consignment, a 1973 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 hardtop showing 55,943 miles, but the true miles are unknown. This car retains its number matching engine, built to LT1 specs according to our consignor and now generating 330 horsepower. It's always been garaged and was born in the color it wears today.

NOTE: As per VIN Data, this vehicle was issued a Delaware rebuilt title on 9/12/2024

Exterior
Now featuring two stage Dark Metallic Brown, it also keeps the ZR8 code white stripes which made it racy in the 70's and classic today. The front chin spoiler is prominent and when combined with the Z28 badge on the grille, cannot be mistaken for any other car. Out back, the combination of large spoiler, quad tail lights, and chrome bumper is the stuff of boyhood dreams and if you grew up in the 70's, this would be your favorite Matchbox car! Here it is in 3D, presenting in excellent condition. The 15-inch Z28 wheels are not flashy, rather tough looking and are evenly wrapped in 215/65R15 tires no older than a late 2022 date code. Dual exhausts are more "in your face" than flashy as well, purposeful and intimidating. Paint, chrome, wheels, all fantastic on the car and we could not find any imperfections.

Interior
We keep it in the 70's brown family with Dark Saddle door vinyl door panels with plastic storage and window cranks for the authentic period feel. Inside, the saddle buckets are in great shape with tufted stitch patterns, copied with more of a straight configuration in the 2+2 rear seats. A four spoke steering wheel leads to the simulated burlwood faceplate of the instrument cluster which includes the ever important tachometer. It's in nice shape too with just a corner of the silver trim broken from the burlwood. A temp gauge has been added below and the center holds an AM/FM/Cassette radio while the black center console holds a tall Hurst shifter with white ball handle begging for action. This black contrasts nicely with the saddle carpet, matching Z28 mats, and perforated vinyl headliner. The trunk wears a loose plaid vinyl mat that shows some use and the spare is covered in the same material.

Drivetrain
It's clean city under the hood as well where the mild mannered, numbers matching 350ci has been built to LT1 specifications and includes a Holley Street Avenger 4-barrel carburetor over an Edelbrock Performer intake, all producing 330 consignor stated horses. Behind it, a Tremec TKX 5-speed manual transmission with a new clutch is sending power to the 10 bolt rear axle with 3.73 gears and Positraction.

Undercarriage
Our tour of clean town continues underneath where only some typical surface rust and residual oil staining mar a whistle clean underside. Subframe connectors and a Dynotech driveshaft are noted along with power steering and power brakes split at front disc and rear drum. The dual exhaust joins a stock style muffler in back and exit as they did in '73 out back. Suspension includes coil springs up front and leaf springs in the back.

Drive-Ability
Welcome to 1973! This virtual time capsule does not veer in any way from one you would have purchased new. However, it exhibits a bit more power and handles it well, tracking straight, accepting gear changes with ease, and hitting turns like a champ. All functions on board operate as intended and we row this brown bomber back to the mall. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.

This is how we rolled! Yes, earth tones were in and racing stripes meant business, reserved for cars that could deliver. Nice '73's are hard to find so if this has been on your wish list, take a close look and get in touch with us if you want to move forward. We know this Z28 wants to move forward, it just needs a new jockey!
