Turbo DieselSourced From Dry ClimateLimited Slip Rear
DifferentialOME Lift KitOur passion for classic Toyota Land
Cruisers takes us around the globe. We sourced this vehicle from
Toulouse, France, a dry southern region of France near the border
of Spain. Obviously, a huge plus to source a vehicle that has lived
in a dry southern climate! Sold new on December 22,1989 to a
Monsieur Bellecour of Tournefeuille, France from SARL Laville
Toyota dealership in Toulouse. Registration documents list a date
of first registration as February 19, 1990. The original service
manual and service book convey with the sale and show this Cruiser
was dealer maintained at SARL Laville Toyota through at least 1999.
Monsieur Bellcour kept the HJ61 until 2007 (18 years with the
original owner) with history records showing only 2 owners since
then. French technical control inspection records are available
dating back to 2009 documenting the history. The most recent French
technical control from April 2025 showed the LC was in excellent
operating condition. France has stringent bi-annual technical
inspections for vehicles to be approved for use on the road. The
Turbo Diesel HJ61, in our mind, is the perfect combination of power
and originality. This European spec, left-hand drive, 5-speed
manual can chirp the tires with ease (first gear is not necessary).
Boasting the renown 12H-T turbo diesel engine, which was used in
Toyota's commercial applications due to its reliability and
powerful torque, this HJ61 is powerful and the turbo is ready to
spool. Tap the key and the engine comes immediately to life. The
Land Cruiser runs, drives, shifts, and stops exactly how it
should. From the outside you will notice an increased stance, period
correct wheels, and larger offroad tires which perfectly complement
the exterior original aesthetics of this beauty. The exterior is
finished in the original Warm Gray Metallic (paint code 153) with
factory exterior graphics. The body is in excellent condition
without rust or major imperfections. All of the typical 'problem
areas' are clean on this rig. It shows extremely well (including
the undercarriage) with some clear coat fading on the hood. The
graphics show some fading after 36 years but still provide that
proper old school vibe. The interior features the original 'Turbo'
embroidered interior with suspension front seats with the complete
interior finished in medium brown. A true comfort-built machine as
the 60 series was the luxury offering in the LC line up. With an
adjustable steering wheel, power window, power locks, power
steering, and power brakes you'll be living a life of luxury. The
interior has been well kept with some imperfections in the rear
cargo carpet and drivers side bottom seat cushion. We did not want
to reupholster the original seats as we prefer the classic look.
Original seat fabric is available or the Car Cave team can
customize the interior for the new owner. The rear bench seat,
passenger seat, and door panels all show extremely well. The rear
seat folds down properly allowing for more cargo space.Car Cave has
made sure this vehicle meets our standards - We did a full vehicle
inspection; rebuilt the front axles outer seals, bearings, and
rebuilt the Birfields; replaced the shocks and the steering
stabilizer; completed an oil change; took it on a few hundred miles
of test drives; replaced the dual batteries; and completely
detailed the interior and exterior. Previous ownership replaced the
clutch, rebuilt the transmission, replaced the rear main seal, and
resealed the transfer case in 2022. Contact us to review the
complete history file.Features and Upgrades5 Speed Manual
