The Chevelle SS is one of the most popular muscle cars ever built.
In 1970, the 'SS' was not a unique model, but rather an option
package to the Chevelle. The basic big-block SS performance
offering for the early '70 model year was the Mark IV 396/402ci
engine, but this rare Chevelle was equipped with the LS6 option
package that included the 454ci Special High-Performance engine.
The owner states that the odometer mileage (just under 54K) is
actual. This Chevelle SS won First Place at a 2013 AACA National
Event - it is top-shelf.
The handsome Chevelle was the beneficiary of a total restoration in
2010 - no detail was spared. The stunning body was carefully
refinished in Tuxedo Black w/contrasting white SS sport stripes,
black vinyl top and a functional cowl-induction hood.
Period-correct Goodyear Polyglass bias-ply tires are mounted on
factory 14" Super Sport steel wheels w/trim rings. All
chrome/stainless trim is exceptional. The restored interior is
equipped with classic black vinyl Strato-Bucket seats, full
console, tinted windows and SS gauge package w/tachometer. An
original AM/FM/8-track sound system w/rear speakers is still in the
dash but needs TLC.
Horsepower is supplied by the numbers-matching 454ci LS6 big-block
that was factory rated at 450hp and 500lb/ft. The engine has been
professionally rebuilt in 2025 by Keith Dorton/Automotive
Specialists, Concord NC. A TH400 3-speed automatic transmission
transfers power to a HD 12-bolt posi-traction differential with
4.11:1 gearing. The chassis is fitted with power steering, power
disc/drum brakes and the F41 Super Sport suspension package
including HD front/rear sway bars. This is a very rare Chevelle
that will vastly improve the value of your garage and certainly
raise your heartbeat on the street. ALL VEHICLES SOLD "AS IS".
