The Chevrolet 3600/3800 series pickups are appreciated for their
classic styling, mechanical simplicity and overall utility. These
trucks were a part of Chevrolet's Advance Design series
(1947-1955), which marked the brand's first major post-WWII truck
redesign. The 1951 3800 (model 3804) featured a 137" wheelbase and
was the 1-ton version of the series. Its extended wheelbase allowed
for a 9-foot bed and larger payload capacity. A 5-window cab had a
rounded, functional design with excellent visibility. The '51 model
had a 2-piece split windshield and no side vent windows. Interiors
were basic, featuring a painted metal dashboard and large vinyl
bench seat.
This 1951 Chevy 3800 has been carefully restored. The body was
refinished in Light Blue enamel that is in very good condition. The
bed has been carefully refloored with oak wood/stainless strips and
matching side boards have been added. The restored interior is also
in very good condition. A comfortable bench seat has been
reupholstered in brown vinyl and a new fiber-board headliner has
been fitted. The dash looks very much like it did in '51 and heavy
duty rubber mats complete the interior package. The current owner
states that the truck is powered by a rebuilt 'Stovebolt' 235ci
six-cylinder engine that is mated to a 4-speed manual transmission
with a 'granny' first gear for heavy hauling. The suspension is
leaf spring front and rear. Brakes are hydraulic drum all around
and the 3800 utilizes 8-lug steel wheels because of its heavy-duty
mission. This Chevy 3800 offers a unique blend of history and
workhorse charm. Come in and inspect this solid classic workhorse -
you will not be disappointed. ALL VEHICLES SOLD "AS IS".
