Very clean wagon with a wicked stance. Smooth running 352 cubic
inch V8 with automatic. Power steering, power brakes, cold
aftermarket A/C, upgraded stereo. 17- & 20-inch Coys wheels. A cool
hauler with exactly the right look!If you're not a wagon person,
maybe you don't get it. But if you ARE a wagon person, then this
1964 Ford Country Squire probably grabbed your attention pretty
quickly. It has a nasty lowered look, but beyond the stance and the
wheels, it's almost completely stock, which means it still works
properly, drives nicely, and generally works like a car is supposed
to work. The Wimbledon White paint with the faux wood appliques is
a traditional look and we think it works especially well on the
jet-age 1964 models. Already long and low, the wood paneling only
accentuates the car's great lines. It has surely been repainted and
the Dy-Noc woodgrain is newer, and it has a great all-of-a-piece
look that we find very appealing. Some of the chrome has been
refinished, like the bumpers, and some is original, but again, it
all looks right and presents quite nicely. Of note, the rear
tailgate power window works correctly, and the glass throughout is
excellent with no cracks or chips. Someone clearly loved this Ford
wagon. The gold cloth and vinyl interior is brand new and shows
extremely well. Correct patterns and materials give it a fresh OEM
look that works better than modern buckets and plush leather would.
The padding underneath is new, too, so the seats are firm and
comfortable for long-distance hauls. Even better, all the gauges
are operational, there's a modern under-dash A/C unit that blows
nice and cold, and an upgraded JVC AM/FM/CD/Bluetooth stereo in the
center of the dash, making this an awesome road trip car big enough
for the whole family. The dash pad is in great condition with no
signs of baking in the sun, the headliner is a nice original piece
with those chrome bows, and seat belts have been thoughtfully
installed, just in case. This is a six-seater, so there's no third
row, but there is a cavernous cargo bay with a pair of powerful 6x9
speakers in their own enclosures, plus a full-sized spare with jack
assembly in the well underneath. The engine is a trustworthy 352
cubic inch V8 making 250 horsepower and an appropriate 352 lb-ft.
of torque. It's enough to make the big wagon feel reasonably quick
around town and it remains a first-rate highway cruiser that just
loafs along with today's traffic. It's finished in correct Ford
Blue with a stock air cleaner up top and chrome valve covers to add
a little flash under the hood. There are a lot of new components,
including the A/C system, radiator, and carburetor, and with power
steering, power brakes, and the Cruise-O-Matic automatic
transmission, anyone can take the wheel and have fun. 3.00 gears
out back mean it never feels high-strung or fussy, and the custom
dual exhaust system features glasspack-style mufflers for a mellow
V8 soundtrack that never gets annoying. You'll note that the floors
are completely solid with no patching or rot, there are recent
power steering components, and it was properly lowered so ride
quality is not notably worse than stock. Wheels are staggered 17
and 20-inch Coys alloys wearing right-sized 245/45/17 front and fat
275/40/20 rear performance radials.Documentation includes the
original owner's manual and warranty booklet with the original
owner's information still on the Owner Card.We like this wagon a
whole lot simply because it gets everything right. The look is
killer, it has pleasing performance, it's comfortable, and it's
still practical in today's world. We've taken it to a few shows
where it attracted more than its fair share of attention, so it
obviously talks to people in a way that a frumpy sedan might not.
