" 'Here's this year's version of last year's Best All Around Car'
boasts the 1975 Corvette sales brochure. The 1975 Corvette
underwent only minor changes from the previous year's model,
keeping the best features of its predecessors and improving in
other areas. The 1975 C3 marked the last model year that a true
convertible Corvette was available for purchase until 1986."

For consignment, a 1975 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible with a title
verified 73,309 actual miles. This blue beauty comes with the
accessory hardtop and its numbers matching drivetrain, including
the L48 350.
Exterior
With the ability to highlight curves and creases with artistry,
Bright Blue Metallic paint coats the car and casts shadows where
sinuous lines are shaped by the fiberglass including the obvious
Coke bottle shape, the subtle flared wheel openings, the slightly
raised hood center, and the iconic fender vents. There's not much
difference in the profile of the car with the two tops on top, but
remove them, and you have a streamlined design that almost seems
organic and conjures up the sleek stingray fish for which Corvettes
are named. This car has a raked stance with the back raised a bit
over the 15-inch Polished American Racing Torque Thrust wheels that
carry 225/70R15's on all four corners and heat shielded side pipes
add an epic cool factor. Flaking paint in places, paint runs, and
random scratches make our list of imperfections on an otherwise
clean exterior.
Interior
Dark Blue is in the interior palette, a nice deviation from the
typical black, and the plastic on the door panels and vinyl on the
bucket seats is all in nice condition while the black steering
wheel rim shows some patina on its three spoke hub. Blue vinyl also
lines the dashboard which houses a pair of large gauges, the
typical speedometer and tachometer, while condition gauges are in
the center stack in black plastic. The trim rings for the front
gauges and plastic both show some typical patina as does the center
console that houses that black handled shifter. An AM/FM radio is
located nearby and blue loop carpet covers the floor, also showing
a touch of age but fully intact.
Drivetrain
Let's get down to business with the numbers matching L48 350ci V8
rated at 165 horsepower and receiving fuel through a 4-barrel
carburetor. It is linked to the numbers matching TH400 3-speed
automatic transmission which spins the power back to 3.08 gears and
Positraction. The bay is very clean and presentable but also shows
some driver quality elements.
Undercarriage
Pleasantly clean underneath with minimal surface rust, just a film
of oil on the pan, and an occasional dry bushing. Here we have dual
exhaust ending with sidepipes and power disc brakes on all four
wheels. Suspension consists of coil springs up front and the
complex rear configuration with a frame anchored differential,
tubular axles drive shafts, transverse strut rods and transverse
leaf springs.
Drive-Ability
We take a seat in this blue time capsule and crank the engine
that's never left the bay, shift into Drive, and round around the
test loop like it's 1975 all over again. Some things from the 70's
don't hold up; interior design, sitcoms, and bell bottoms. But the
thrill of a V8 powered fiberglass sports car still does! The car
tracks straight, sounds great, and handles with ease. Other than
the horn and clock which is part of the central gauge cluster, and
the electrically operated headlights not closing, all functions
operate as intended. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these
functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot
guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your
purchase.
Just 4,629 convertibles were produced in 1975 making this survivor
a fairly rare example. Is it the fastest Corvette ever produced?
Not by a long shot. Does it retain all the coolness that could be
squeezed from GM in this era? Absolutely! It's a numbers matching
looker that will be a fine addition to your collection, or a great
way to start one!
