Jay's passion for classic automobiles led him to acquire this original 1957 Corvette, a rare gem, fuel-injected with a VIN number on the engine that perfectly matched the car. This Authentication confirmed it's originality, making it a prized possession in his collection. However, Jay's journey with this Corvette took an unexpected turn in 2008 when he entrusted it to a restoration team in Indiana.
Despite showing initial promise, the restoration company met with tough times during the economic downturn and stopped returning Jay and Sherry's calls. Ernie ended up flying to Indiana in a snowstorm to rescue the Corvette, finding it completely disassembled and missing crucial components.
Undeterred, Jay and Ernie embarked on a mission to salvage what remained, the Corvette's frame and shell were saved, and they were able to bring this Beauty back to life, updating it to Restomod.
Jay Cimino was a Business Icon in the automotive industry in Colorado, a renowned philanthropist and an avid collector of cars. Please note that all of the cars in the Jay Cimino Collection have been stored in a climate-controlled environment for many years, with only limited driving. The Jay Cimino team has confirmed that the vehicles start and run. Please note, however, as a result of their extended storage and static display, all the cars will benefit from additional mechanical attention before being driven.
