Zoom Classic Cars presents this 1947 Hudson Super Six Pickup. Often
referred to as the "Big Boy" pickup this 1947 Farm Truck was built
on Hudson's proven passenger car platform, it featured sleek
curves, a bold grille, and sturdy construction. Powered by the
reliable Super Six inline-six engine, it delivered smooth
performance and solid torque for its era. Unlike typical trucks of
the time, it offered a more refined ride and stylish looks, making
it a standout among post-war pickups. Today, it's a prized find for
collectors who appreciate vintage American craftsmanship and
originality. This truck is powered by a Power Dome Flathead Inline
6 cylinder engine with a single new carb and producing
approximately 102HP. Coupled with a manual 3 on the tree
transmission with heavy duty clutch. 3/4-ton rating, independent
front suspension, and a car-like chassis designed for a smoother
ride. This rare model marked the last year for Hudson pickup
production. Only 2,917 were produced in 1947. Truck was designed by
Betty Thatcher. She became the first woman ever hired as a designer
for a major American automotive company and she would almost
single-handedly transform the Terraplane Big Boy into what would
eventually become Hudson's most collectible pickup truck, the
1946-47 model listed with ZCC today. Older restoration from the
Midwest that made its way to Maine before being purchased by the
current MA owner in Summer of 2024. Solid body all around with
decent green paint with Patina and some imperfections as shown.
Chrome, trim and badging is intact and in decent condition. NIce
oak 8ft cargo bed in very good condition with tailgate that was
replaced at some point. Interior is clean with brown vinyl bench
seat original Steering wheel and gauges and unfinished portion of
the dash at the glove compartment. Kill switch under steering
wheel. Lots of work was done in 2019-2021 before the current owner
purchased which includes the new carburetor, new spark plugs, new
brakes including new wheel cylinders, new master cylinder and brake
shoes, replaced all rubber brake hoses and fabricated new lines and
brackets. Rewired the entire truck, replaced fuel pump and flushed
and changed all fluids to get the truck running well and safely. At
the moment only the fuel gauge and Turn signal need to be
connected. Also, its not known if the heater works and there is no
radio. Current owner has serviced the transmission and repaired the
oil pan along with a new drain plug . Undercarriage is very clean
with solid frame and only some typical minor surface rust. Truck
rides on heavy duty Transforce HT2 Tires mounted on factory steel
wheels with the Chrome Hudson mini hubs. Truck runs, drives and
shifts very well. It comes with loads of documentation including
service and owner's manuals, wiring diagrams and some miscellaneous
parts as shown. Also have receipts for recent work performed.
Stored in MA with clean title in the owner's name. Thanks for
Looking.
