First introduced in 1941, Chrysler halted production of the Town & Country in 1942 so Detroit could focus on manufacturing for the war effort.  Production resumed on these exceptional vehicles following World War II, with Woody models available through only 1950.

The 1948 Chrysler Town & Country Woody Sedan from the Cimino Collection represents the last year the Woody Sedan was produced by Chrysler.  This striking  car received an extensive, high level restoration at some point and presents very well today! 1948 was the last year the Woody Sedan was produced.

What really stands out about the car is the exceptional body work including the metal and especially the wood.  These cars had extensive woodwork throughout the trunk, doors and rear quarter panels.  Unlike other woody models of the era, this is not wood covering metal body panels.  The trunk lid is all wood and the doors are wood inside and out.  Of special note is the wood luggage rack on the roof.

Exterior Chrome appears original to the car.  All chrome and stainless is present, with some of the trim pieces showing with minor pitting.  The paint displays green metallic, a departure from the original green still showing in the engine compartment.  Aftermarket rear view mirrors adorn each door for driving safety.

The interior is a sight to behold with its extensive wood grain dash, chrome and period correct upholstery and carpet.  The massive steering wheel appears original and the headliner is accentuated by wood ribbing.

Mechanically the power plant was upgraded to a later model V8 and Automatic transmission.  Exhaust Headers were fashioned through the inner fenders for a crisp look under the hood.  The underside and chassis was restored along with the upper body and shows well.

The car is reported to run and drive very well.  Inside and out, this car was built to enjoy on the road cruising!

Jay Cimino was a Business Icon in the automotive industry in Colorado, a renowned philanthropist and an avid collector of cars.  Please note that all of the cars in the Jay Cimino Collection have been stored in a climate-controlled environment for many years, with only limited driving.  The Jay Cimino team has confirmed that the vehicles start and run.  Please note, however, as a result of their extended storage and static display, all the cars will benefit from additional mechanical attention before being driven.
