Chassis No. ZFF01SMA0P0291591 Ferrari's 296 GTB and GTS telegraphed
Maranello's
next steps toward its hybrid future as the brand's second model to
feature
plug-in hybrid technology after the SF90, and the company's first
six-cylinder
road car to wear the Prancing Horse badge. Its new 120-degree,
3.0-liter
twin-turbo V6 paired with a 165-horsepower e-motor to deliver a
combined 819
horsepower, enabling zero to 60 mph in 2.4 seconds and the quarter
mile in 9.7
seconds at 150 mph, making it the quickest rear-wheel drive car Car
and Driver
had ever tested. Offered in two body styles, the closed-roof 296
GTB presented
the pure berlinetta silhouette, while the 296 GTS translated the
concept into an
open car without loss of design coherence. The GTS's
power-retractable hardtop
stowed neatly within the engine compartment and yielded a tail
treatment that
read as its own design rather than a simple roof-off
conversion-marrying the
model's compact proportions to a cleaner, more sculptural rear deck
that nodded
to the 250 LM's flying buttresses. For clients intent on track use,
the Assetto
Fiorano package was offered on both the GTB and GTS. This
uncompromising kit
focused on weight reduction and downforce, featuring
GT-racing-derived
Multimatic dampers and high-load carbon-fiber aero, trimming
roughly 17 pounds
overall, with a 250 LM-inspired livery available to order.
Specified to a
distinctly track-leaning brief, this 2023 Ferrari 296 GTS with the
Assetto
Fiorano package-a staggering $49,205 option-was finished in classic
Argento
Nrburgring with Blu Corsa striping and Charcoal leather, the theme
carried by
extensive exposed carbon fiber throughout. The exterior
specification included
the rear diffuser, under-door covers, and front luggage-compartment
area in
glossy carbon fiber, together with the highly-desirable
carbon-fiber wheels
secured by titanium wheel bolts and glossy black brake calipers set
behind. The
Assetto Fiorano package added fixed-setting Multimatic-derived
dampers and
associated weight-saving and aero elements, supplied here in
concert with the
attractive Racing Stripe livery and "Scuderia Ferrari" shields.
Inside, the car
was trimmed to the same focused standard with carbon-fiber Racing
Seats in size
XL, colored special stitching and interior details in Blu Medio,
and
leather/Alcantara logo-embroidered floor mats. The cabin also
carried numerous
carbon fiber options adorning the instrument cover, dashboard air
vents, upper
center console, dash inserts, and the carbon-fiber steering wheel
with
integrated LED shift lights. Despite its track focus, technology
and convenience
were not overlooked, featuring Apple CarPlay, wireless smartphone
charging,
MyFerrari Connect readiness hardware, and the Advanced Front
Driving Camera.
This well-specified 296 combines the open-air appeal of the GTS
with the most
focused chassis and aero package available-its array of exposed
carbon
components and historic livery delivering a cohesive,
motorsport-inspired
specification well suited to road or circuit use. Showing only 641
miles from
new, this Assetto Fiorano-equipped 296 GTS offers a like-new
gateway into
Ferrari's plug-in-hybrid future.
