The 1957 Bel Air was introduced as the pinnacle of the celebrated
Tri-Five era
of Chevrolet's premium full-size lineup, offering the most
refinements in style,
comfort, and power. Distinguished by its bolder grille, dramatic
hood rockets,
full-disc wheel covers, and signature gold anodized trim, the '57
Bel Air
carried an unmistakable presence that set it apart from its
predecessors. New
powertrain and trim options made the new Bel Air more tailor-made
than ever. The
cockpit was further enriched as well: the Jacquard cloth and vinyl
seats were
redesigned with more comfort in mind, the door-mounted armrests
were enlarged,
and the seat tracks were modified to allow taller occupants more
head and leg
room.
This 1957 Bel Air Convertible has been restored in its original and
desirable
exterior color of Highland Green over a Green interior. It is
equipped with
comfort and drivability in mind: sporting power brakes, power
steering, and the
Powerglide three-speed automatic transmission, as well as the
coveted
Continental Kit. Under the hood is the top shelf Tonawanda-built
FC-code 283
cubic-inch Super Turbo-Fire V8 producing 220 horsepower and
equipped with the
Power Pak, which adds a four-barrel carburetor and dual
exhaust.
This Bel Air has undergone a complete restoration and afterwards it
was donated
to the iconic Petersen Automotive Museum of Los Angeles,
California. It is now
offered with 45,947 miles at the time of cataloging. Well-appointed
with
sought-after features and in its original stunning color, this 1957
Chevrolet
Bel Air Convertible exemplifies the very qualities that earned the
'57 Chevrolet
its legendary status among American classics.
