"When strength meets style, legends are born, and the 1996 Ford
F-350 is no exception. Crafted by the venerable American automaker
Ford Motor Company, this powerhouse of a pickup truck has etched
its name into the annals of automotive history. Born in an era when
trucks began to symbolize not just utility but also lifestyle, the
F-350 emerged as a symbol of rugged American work ethic combined
with a desire for comfort and performance. "metrommp.com
For consignment, a 1996 Ford F350 XLT crew cab long bed pickup
truck with a title verified 204,661 actual miles. This truck has
obviously been taken care of and that was evident as soon as it
pulled up to the mall. Its purpose built presence and distinct
turbo diesel sound immediately caught our attention and the truck
belies its mileage.
Exterior
Tall and long is how one would describe this truck and it's taller
and longer than just about anything we've consigned over the years,
here decked out in Oxford White paint with very few imperfections.
This is a crew cab, not extended cab, so you get full size back
doors and the long bed has a newer cap on top in matching white.
The tailgate is surprisingly simple and lacks any Ford logos
normally placed there, flanked by simple tail lights and
underscored by a substantial chrome bumper and trailer hitch. The
chrome plastic on the grille is not perfect, but it remains fully
intact at the end of a long hood. 16-inch wheels carry LT285/75R16
all terrain tires which have plenty of room in the lifted wheel
opening. The bed is lined with plywood and has shelves and some
carpeted mats and there's plenty of room if you want to stay the
night! Imperfections are limited to some bubbling at the bottom of
the front fenders and dinged up wheel opening trim.
Interior
Curves and coves are constructed of molded plastic on the typical
Ford truck door panels, here in gray, with perforated vinyl inserts
and carpeted lowers and all four doors present in nice condition.
From there we turn to the seats, gray cloth buckets in front with
some compression on the driver's side but otherwise clean. The rear
bench is fully intact but does show some use in places and
passengers are afforded headrests, a center armrest, and
cupholders. A black steering wheel leads to a standard dash and a
digital gauge monitor is perched on top of the dash suctioned to
the windshield. Towards the center, we have an AM/FM/CD radio and
the typical A/C panel. Gray carpet covers the floor with some
evidence of use and surrounds the transfer case selector, and the
headliner and visors are in good shape.
Drivetrain
The heart of the matter is a 7.3 liter Powerstroke turbo diesel V8,
fuel injected and married to an E4OD 4-speed automatic transmission
that reaches 4.10 gears through the Dana 60 differential in front
and the Sterling 10.25" in back.
Undercarriage
Other than some surface rust, the underside is clean, dry, and rust
free. Two hundred thousand miles? Did they avoid rain and snow? It
really looks like it. Meanwhile, power brakes are onboard as front
disc and rear drums, leaf springs make up the suspension front and
rear, and the single exhaust runs through an MBRP system and
muffler before exiting behind the right rear wheel.
Drive-Ability
Using the provided step bars, we climb up into the treetop
existence that is the cab of this F350. Once in, it doesn't feel
much different than an F150 as Ford uses componentry across the
line. Once moving, the size becomes evident and the Powerstroke
makes that distinct diesel rattle that translates to torque on
demand. The truck tracks straight, brakes well, and runs smoothly,
and a bit louder than your average 150. As often the case with well
maintained Ford trucks, all functional items operate as intended
and we roll Moby back to the mall. While Classic Auto Mall
represents that these functions were working at the time of our
test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at
the time of your purchase.
Hauling a race car or show car and taking the family along?
Perfect. Working construction and moving the crew from site to
site? Got you covered! Looking to go camping up a mountain? This
truck can do it all! It runs well, looks good, and has more
interior space than you'll likely be able to fill. Shiny, muscular,
dressed in white, and handy. We'd call this rig Mr. Clean. Make it
yours today!
