West Coast Classics are proud to present an absolutely exceptional
and great daily driving and striking example of this southern
California 1966 Ford Mustang 'C' code 289 V8 Convertible in its
original 'Raven Black' (Paint code A) factory color paint matched
to its original factory Black Luxury (Trim code 66) Pony interior
and a 2.80:1 standard differential matched to an automatic C4
transmission and a fairly new 'Black' power soft top and with the
desirable 289 V8 engine. This is also a very rare virtually fully
loaded example boasting power disc brakes, power steering and air
conditioning. The car is also displayed with the GT trim package,
Pony interior, Red GT accents, chrome steel style wheels, fog
lamps, BF Goodrich Redline radial tires, a new power operated
convertible top and wooden steering wheel.Ford's biggest success of
the sixties and the originator of the 'Pony car' concept was
essentially a sporty compact car but with a now legendary long hood
and short deck proportions, built on Falcon and Fairlane chassis
and drive-train components, the Ford Mustang was introduced in
April 1964 as '65 models and within a year became the fastest
selling car of all time; with these early production cars now
carrying special favor! The upgraded V8 from the Falcon six
cylinder engine was the 260 c.i. V8 produced on the same assembly
line with other 1964 Fords, the early models were titled as 1965
models although they were actually from the 1964 production era.
After September 1964 the 260 V8 was dropped in favor of the larger
289 V8 like this particular car. This particular example boasts its
original classic 'Raven Black' factory color paint and 'Black
Luxury' Pony interior and was built on 21st April 1966 with the C4
automatic transmission with console and a 2.80:1 axle. The car
drives very well with no issues. The engine is extremely strong and
responsive and the C4 automatic transmission shifts smoothly
through the gears and the engine temperature always remains cool.
There are no signs of any accidents and no rust and the car has
been beautifully restored. In summary this is one very striking and
rare original southern California 1966 Ford Mustang 289 V8
Convertible and a great daily driver for any American classic car
lover. A beautiful example of this increasingly collectible and one
of the most desirable classic Mustangs ever in turn-key ready daily
driving, daily head-turning, and daily appreciating condition!
