The practice of producing "coachwork" cars is a practice that stems
all the way back to horse drawn vehicles. These coachbuilders would
work with car manufacturers to create custom limited production
bodies utilizing their rolling chassis. This allowed large marques
like Ferrari to focus on certain aspects of their vehicles while
being able to outsource the body to highly skilled professionals.
As time went on, coachwork cars were often separated from the
manufacturer themselves and the customer that purchased the car
would work with them directly. It is no surprise that when you
first laid eyes on this Anteros you probably had no clue what it
was. Well that is because it is 1 of 2 vehicles hand made by Roger
Hector at HST Inc out of Tijuana, Mexico. Hector obviously has the
skill set because the carbon fiber body looks right at home. He
took inspiration from classic 60's sports cars and modernized it by
blending it with the C6 Corvette. It all started with the donation
of a new C6 Corvette for the process of creating a unique supercar.
Hector then works it over from front to rear to transform it into
what you see here. Even small details like the door handles are
modified so any clues that it began life as a Corvette are very
limited. This one is serial number 2 and incredibly rare. It is a
unique opportunity to get the performance, luxury and comfort of a
Corvette with the guarantee you will never sit next to another one
at a stop light. It has 1,300 miles on it since completed so is
still in a very freshly completed condition. The car is painted in
a beautiful "Jewel Red" which is the Mexican version of the Candy
Apple Red. It has a Black power convertible cloth top that is
excellent condition and works properly. It has a polished carbon
fiber rear panel with matching carbon fiber mirror caps and door
handle pockets. The open powder coated/polished front grill, front
brake scoops, enclosed front headlights and more all work together
to really give off that European sports car feeling. The car has an
aggressive stance and rides on custom wheels (18in - front, 19in
-rear) with Anteros center caps and low profile tires.
It now has a full tilt front end that lifts up to reveal the
Corvette LS2 motor. It received performance upgrades including a
polished Magnuson supercharger that increases power up to 550 hp.
It has a full stainless steel custom Magnaflow exhaust system and
has an awesome sound. You know it means business! Under the hood,
custom carbon fiber panels were crafted which dress it up nicely.
The car runs great and needs nothing. The transmission is a 4 speed
automatic with overdrive that shifts smoothly. A lot of the brakes
and suspension pull from the stock C6 but there are some
customizations there too like painted brake calipers that match the
body.
The interior of the car features some Corvette components like the
heads up display and stereo. That being said the seats are totally
reworked with new memory foam and high grade leather upholstery.
Due to some wear concerns with the initial design they actually
switched mid production to using an ultrasuede designed
specifically for high end private jets. The two tone Beige looks
very luxurious and is in great condition. A custom designed Anteros
steering wheel is in place with wood accents that match some trim
on the glove box door. It also got custom door panels, custom
gauges and was fully Dynamat insulated before the install. The car
does have a trunk which is all nicely upholstered as well.
The car has been shown at Concours D'Elegance shows in the past and
featured in magazines. Keep in mind that the cost to build is
around $65,000 to Anteros Coachworks which does not include the
donor car that has a MSRP of $61,905. It comes with some
documentation as well as the original window sticker.
