1903 Pierce-Arrow Motorette Model H-K. This meticulously maintained
two seater was manufactured by the George N. Pierce Company, of
Buffalo New York. In 1903 170 were built, powered by a 1 cylinder,
5 horsepower, 41 cubic inch gasoline engine mounted in the rear.
The cost new was $950 dollars. The weight is 800 pounds loaded with
water and gas, and it has a listed cruising speed of 21 mph with a
top speed of 28 mph. The pierce Motorette earned a reputation for
endurance and reliability in early automotive competitions, in any
weather. This Motorette rides on metal wire spoke 28 inch wheels,
in black. The carriage style body is supported by four full
elliptical springs. The car's finish is a gloss black, with red
pinstriping and a red chassis. Equipped with a single bar for
steering, lights, horn, a rear view mirror, and tools for the road.
The rear hatch opens to reveal the top rear of the engine area as
well as a tool box area. In the front of the driver is another
large compartment that tilts open to reveal more storage and tools.
